I would comment but then I'd have to preface the comments with photos of my before and after weight loss.

Read the comments section where Tapp explains another article associated with this one. The second article asks several trainers in the SEL what their team does in terms of measuring BMI and gets three different answers with one saying they don't track it at all, another simply saying that they measure it, but have no guidelines, and the third actually saying they have guidelines for their players. Klasen is not likely saying, "I don't care" but rather is saying it is something I haven't had to care about in the past (ie: his team never checked it)...

I'm not concerned. While he lacks breakaway speed, the guy is lightning quick when it comes to jumping on a loose puck or closing a gap. Maybe this type of attention and training is what's needed to bring his game to another level? Only time will tell...

The BMI is so horribly inaccurate. I understand why insurance companies use the model. Why in the hell anyone else thinks it's an acceptable formula for measuring healthy weight is beyond me.

It's still funny though

There is a difference in BMI and body fat percentage. Klasen failed the body fat standard.

He's also coming in well ahead of training camp to work with Good.

He also has said somewhere he understands he will probably have to play in the AHL before NHL, so this kid seems to have a good work ethic.

I actually see this as a good sign. If he wasn't concerned about his fitness before and can actually get into shape and add some strength and some speed it could mean a lot to Klasen's play.

I've fixed the title since I was the one that erred in the first place...

I kept your title...just added a bit of clarification on what the thread was about. Didn't know what I was going to be clicking on initially when I opened this although I had seen the report this weekend...

In doing so I erred...I'm human!

Haha it's cool. I just sort of skimmed over some of the article. The translation was kind of bad, and I was itching to get out of the house. Probably would've noticed it was a body fat percentage issue and not a BMI issue had I sat down and read the thing. Anyway, looks like the guy is willing to get into shape.

Hey from 56 inch waist line to 40. From 20 inch neck to 15 so far.

Chest hasn't changed but that's because I'm sticking with core exercises with kettlebells. If i get back on my iTunes stomach crunch routine I can get under 40. My hope is to plateau at 190-205 range. I'm currently hovering at 225-230.

Height weight charts say I need to be at 160 for my height but they don't account for muscle mass. Right now I feel like I could ram my elbow through a fridge.

Danke. How much is Klasen over by? I didn't see it in the article. If it's 15-20lbs for a pro athlete that aint all that hard. Just got to make sure that it's fat and not cheating like wrestlers and MMA guys do and cut water weight.

I believe the article states that the Preds require 12% or less and Klasen at the prospect camp came in over 20%...

Nice job, BFC.

12% eh? I'm at 8. Now if only I had some hockey skills I could play for the Preds...

I estimate I'm at 25% from 40%. (Yes I WAS that fat.) I'd love to be at 15%.

Give me 190 and ready to punch a hole in Anderson Silva's face.
