Slim to none. He's blocked by a slew of guys. Pitkanen, Gleason, McBain, Harrison, Carson, Sanguinetti, Babchuk, Corvo, Borer and possibly even Bellemore depending upon who went down.
He is beyond redundant on this team and only serves as a potential roadblock to Sanguinetti getting any real consideration when an offensive defenseman hits the skids or gets hurt.
The generally accepted top six for next year looks something like this:
Those five are pretty much odds on favorites. The sixth and seventh defenders are still to be decided. Edge to Harrison as he has a one way contract, but we've seen that not matter in the past in the case of Conboy last season. If he's badly outplayed, he'll be the best candidate for 7th defender. With Brett Carson being waiver eligible now, it has been stated that he'll spend the majority of the year with Carolina to avoid going through.
These guys should comprise the AHL defense:
And likely some roster filler, career AHL contract guy in the last slot like Jonathan Paiement or whoever we want to put there.
