While I have never lived in the north for any extended period of time, I have lived in an area where it got to single digits on a semi regular basis with wind chill during the winter, and I prefer cold to hot. You can always get warm, but you can't always get cool.
A gunman with an assault rifle was shot and killed this morning after opening fire at police headquarters in McKinney.
McKinney Police Department
A McKinney official said the shooter was killed near the public safety building in the 2200 block of Taylor-Burk Drive. It was unclear whether the suspect was shot by police or died from a self-inflicted wound.
...
There were no reports of anyone else injured in the shooting, which started about 9 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicated that the gunman set a pickup on fire outside the police station to draw people out before opening fire with a semiautomatic rifle.
A witness told WBAP radio (820 AM) that the shooter was also wearing a bulletproof vest and was shooting at vehicles near the police station.
The McKinney campus of Collin College, across the street from the station, was locked down after the shooting. Students and staff were warned by e-mail not to come to the school.
When the students come back to College Station after the summer it is unlike anything I've seen before. Everything is gone, water, bread, pop, literally you walk down the aisle and the shelves are completely empty. Aside from the heat summers are nice, it is very peaceful when the students aren't here, and there is no waiting in line at restaurants or anywhere really. Oh well then come football weekends when the only decent time to go out and eat is actually during the game.
Nice summer in the east coastal region of Canada this year. Mid 20s during the day, so I'm guessing around 80-85 farenheit every day. Surprisingly, really no rain for weeks. Haven't seen Sid the Kid around though, as some of the locals say it's not uncommon to see him booting around the downtown in the summer.
Saw Mick Jagger's brother Chris jammin' in a cafe a few days ago. Seriously, I didn't believe the worker in the cafe at the time that the guy jammin' was related to Mick in any way, but he left a signed CD and Mick and a few other names were featured in some tracks. Looked just like Mick though.
Edit: finally rained.

Reason: Bad grammar
So apparently this is the reason you can't delete posts anymore according to Buffaloed:

You can't delete them anymore in public forums. It's making a mess out of content indexed in search engines and generating numerous support requests because pages aren't being found when people click on search results.
Speaking of College Football (that starts tomorrow, YAAAAAAAY), with BYU officially going independent....they've announced they have signed a 8 year deal with ESPN.
Thoughts on BYU going independent? Thoughts on the MWC now?
Surely after losing not only BYU but also Utah, there's no way the MWC can even be considered getting an invitation for automatic qualifying to the BCS.
BYU screwed quite a bit of schools with that decision but I for one don't care about mid majors outside of maybe cusa. I just hope they dont get a bull**** BCS clause like notre dame has. Not that I think they will.
