So a lot about this off season has been a bummer. So I figured I would start a thread that was on the brighter side of things. I am a huge beer enthusiast, just curious to see how many others out there have a passion for beer..... or just enjoy a tasty drink during the games.
I originally wanted to start this thread asking about a specific local beer in Philly and figured I'd start something that might be fun. My question is does anyone know of a specific brewery in Philly that has their signature and an IPA. I was recently in Philly and had this IPA at a bar, the tap handle was yellow. I know that's not very specific, but I was wondering if someone might know what I'm talking about because it was pretty damn good and I want to make sure I find it again the next time I'm in Philly.
I'll start this thread with my current favorite:
My new favorite beer of choice has been IPA (India Pale Ale). Sierra Nevada is known for it's signature pale ale, but also makes what they call "Torpedo Extra IPA". I love the bitterness of the IPA's and this one just takes it to a whole new level, just an incredible flavor. At first I was a little iffy about it because of how intense it was. After I poured it into a glass, it was perfect. It's amazing how some beers just have a much better taste poured out of the bottle.
I would definitely recommend this beer to anyone who loves IPA's.... but if you're not a fan of the bitterness, I would suggest you stay away from it.
IPA's were my first favorite craft brews. I really like them. I worked my way up to Stone's Ruination IPA, but its just too much for me still. I have only had 2 ever, but I struggled to finish them. What an intense beer.
Stone is probably my favorite microbrewery, since they are tasty, funny as hell, and widely available in my area. The descriptions on the bottle are just hilarious. Arrogant ******* is my go to fancy beer, but the Barelywine is my favorite Stone brew.
For beer that is a little less heavy and aggressive, but by no means less flavorful, I highly recommend this unspellable, unpronounceable brand of beer that is also available in my local supermarket. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/252/731
There's a couple up here in Canada that I enjoy partaking in. The three beer that I drink right now are Brava, Red Baron Lime and Bud Light. If you've never had Brava before, I suggest picking up a case and let it get good and cold and have one. Just a very, very, very good beer. As for the Red Baron Lime, I'm not really big on the Bud Light Lime or the Miller Lite with the Lime, but Red Baron got it right on how to make a Lime beer. As for Bud Light, it's just good period. I prefer it more on tap though.

Stone is a great microbrewery, I don't get it as much as I should. Another hilariously named beer that is very good is Dead Guy Ale by Rogue Brewery, very very tasty beer.
And by the way, beeradvocate.com is one of my favorite websites.
I like the microbrews that we have down here in Delaware. I was at happy hour at Iron Hill last week and I had their light lager, which was really good. I also like Twin Lakes beer, also from a microbrewery in Delaware. Yuengling is good too.
Very forgettable name but amazing beer. Unfortunately I had it after going to my grandfather's funeral but it was so good that it brought my spirits up a lot that day.

Delaware also has dogfish head, which I think I've only had their 90 Minute IPA, but it was very good. They have a restaurant in Rehoboth Beach if you ever have a chance to go, I bet it would be a good time.
Magic Hat and Harpoon's are my two favorite breweries. Magic Hat #9 has always been a favorite of mine. Anything Harpoon's brew is wonderful. I got turned on to Harpoon's due to their Winter Warmer. It has a hint of ginger bread.
