agreed and he is the only power forward on the team at least until Werek is ready. Id love to see Werek and Dubinsky along with Callahan as the future leaders of the Rangers.

The Rangers spent over a million dollars on "Grit" in FA. They don't need anymore. They have Prust, Avery..etc. Talbot is useless.

Hahaha.

Thanks for the morning laugh, "bretzky."

He's useless to the Rangers.

Take a look at our NHL roster and tell me who he displaces. (And that doesn't even take account the fact that we have Weise and Byers ready in the minors if for some reason management determines that we need to turn over one of the 37 bottom 6 forwards already on the big club.)

Brian Boyle and probably Christensen when he loses it again.

if those 2 fail then we have plenty for free that can come up and do exactly what talbot does, probably even better. thanks we're good on the bottom 6 forwards.

Look again.

Top 6 candidates:
Marian Gaborik
Alexander Frolov
Brandon Dubinsky
Artem Anisimov
Erik Christensen
Vaclav Prospal
Mats Zuccarello-Aasen
(Derek Stepan)
(Evgeny Grachev)

Bottom 6 candidates:
Whichever of the above list doesn't make the top six
Ryan Callahan
Chris Drury
Sean Avery
Todd White
Derek Boogaard
Brandon Prust
Brian Boyle
(Dane Byers)
(Dale Weise)
(Brodie Dupont)

There's no question that squad could use help in the top 6. But Maxime Talbot isn't a top 6 player. As for the bottom 6, Prospal (IMO the most likely top 6 candidate to slide to the third line), Callahan, Drury, Avery and Boogaard are all givens before Talbot. If they don't bury White, he slots in ahead of Talbot as well. That's already six candidates. Prust vs. Talbot is a push. And then add in any prospects (all in parenthases) who force there way on to the squad and it gets more crowded.

Talbot doesn't help the Rangers.

Aside from the obvious and chronicled part about Dubinsky's grit:

Gaborik isn't exactly soft. He does not initiate contact often, but doesn't shy away from it. The guy finds open space and makes room for himself. He fights through checks when he has to.

Injury prone does not equal soft.

Stop making trade proposals. Start watching games.

Brutal. The Rangers lack grit, but then give up Dubinsky

The Rangers were a very soft team at the beginning of last season, but have since added two more players with some grit (Boogard and Prust).

IMO, that leaves Callahan, Dubinsky, Boogard, Prust and Avery who are players that have some sort of grit to their game. Yeah, the Rangers won't be the toughest team in the league next year, but they are by no means soft.

The only area where the Rangers lack grit is on defense. With Kundratek, Pashnin and McIlrath in the minors, that won't be a problem for long.

Dubie is one of the Rags best face-off men (51.4% last year, 53.6% 2 yrs ago) but you want him to be Crosby's scoring winger? You call him soft, possibly overlooking the fact that 2 yrs ago he had 251 hits (good for 7th in the league). Yep, you definitely know what you're talking about.

Horrible, Dubinsky is a good 2nd liner that DOES have grit and has the potential to be a first liner. Not many people seem to realise how good he is. Him and Jagr were insane together in the playoffs a few years back.

Really brutal deal for the Rangers.

It's also not a good allocation of cap space for the Penguins in the future, plus Dubi and Sid don't get along.

Having Dubinsky and Crosby on the same team would be hilarious though

Good value but PIT doesn't do this. Too many centers as is.

Dubinsky plays LW as well. He will most likely be playing it again this season for the Rangers.

Don't think the value is fair at all, but, we'll have to agree to disagree about that.

On behalf of all Penguins fans including the OP, I would like to issue a formal apology for this trade proposal. It's ridiculously bad and should never have seen the light of day. I hope that Rangers fans will accept this sincere request for forgiveness.

After some of the Malkin deals proposed lately, Pens fans don't have to apologize for anything.

He'd be good with Malkin as he could take the Face-offs.

Yep, this really might be the worst proposal on the board right now. And you're talking to someone who has a huge framed autographed picture of Max Talbot holding the Cup in his room.

Bretzky, I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

Would ranger fans be more enticed if a 2nd round pick was added on to the deal

The Rangers won't be trading Dubinsky for anyone on the Pens not named Crosby, Malkin, or Staal.

If you want Dubinsky, make a proposal around one of those three.

Dubinsky?

Start w/Tangradi. He's worth way more to us than he would be to any other team, you'd have to overpay massively to pry him lose.
