Red Wings interested in Lukas Krajicek

Ansar Khan reports the Detroit Red Wings have inquired about former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Lukas Krajicek, suggesting he'd be a more affordable signing than Willie Mitchell. Khan suggests the Wings might be better re-signing Andreas Lilja but he's seeking $1.5 million while the Wings are reportedly offering $1 million.
Would make sense for the Wings. The only thing I see them in need of is a veteran bottom-pairing D-man. Don't know much about how Krajicek was last season in Philly, but he could fit the bill. May be more affordable than the rest of the UFA D-men still on the market like Mitchell, Mara, etc.

Krajicek is a pretty crappy d-man. I like him, but he is crappy. He can't anchor a pairing at all and even if he's stuck with someone to anchor the 3rd pairing for him, he's still barely adequate. No team should be signing Krajicek unless it's as a 7th d-man, 6th d-man at best.

Please Mr. Holland, stay away!!

If were going this route I'd rather save the money and promote Janik or even Smith(though he needs a year of seasoning imo) up to the Big Show, rather than paying this scrub!

Krajicek was good with the Canucks, but with the Lightning and Flyers? Absolute garbage.

Since he is a Red Wing he will turn into the next Kronwall or someone like that

Wonderful. Wings need a d-man to cover for Ericsson on the 3rd pairing, they sign this guy and they might as well just play Ericsson alone.

+1.

Easily one of the worst defensemen in the league.

NOT good with the Canucks. I stood up and cheered when we traded him for O'Brien. If there is anywhere he can do well though it will be Detroit. Learning from Lidstrom and Rafalski could make him a legitmate nhl defenceman. They play the style of hockey that Krajicek wants to.

They'd be better to stay away. He was good the first couple games, but after that he was bad.

Lilja should take the 1m. Who does he think he is? Aki Berg?

He wasn't HORRIBLE... But he wasn't exactly stellar either. Pretty decent puck mover. Good speed, couldn't really anchor a PP but he could PK pretty well. Good 5-6 Dman.

HAHAHAHAHA. This is great. The Red Wings love taking our trash defensemen.

First OKT, now Krajicek.

Have fun with those.

Don't let yourself be fooled. That was a cap move. OKT will probably never see the ice in a DRW sweater.

Yuck. this guy was so bad last year. The only reason he even saw the ice in the playoffs was because Ryan Parent was somehow worse than him and Bartulis in the playoffs.

*shrugs* I thought he was an awesome 5-6 guy for Vancouver when he was here.

Guess he got worse.

He's truly a horrible defenseman. Hoping this is true.

I thought it was pretty obvious these past couple years that Lukas Krajicek just doesn't belong in the NHL. I was certain he was off to Europe...guess I won't quit my day job...

I was kind of hoping that Kindl would get a strong look...gotta be getting close to waiver eligible time for him, no?

If I'm Detroit, some of the younger kids gotta be getting a chance, here. I know the whole "we're the Detroit Red Wings" thing, but they got some guys who would be getting looks other places, and I'm sure they know that.

Kindl and Ericsson are both on the team this year, but the Wings need another PK defensemen whether it be Lilja, Janik or Krajicek to take the burden off of Lidstrom in the regular season.

As bad as Krajicek might be, I find it hard to believe he's that terrible that he couldn't manage 12-14 minutes a night with the majority being on special teams. And for the record, I'm not defending Krajicek, I'm just saying whomever it is, they can handle the type of role that they'd be signed for.

The kids will get plenty of looks this year.
