If Redden was waived... and then re-called...

From a personal standpoint, I'm just waiting on what day I can mark on the calendar for the future as "Wade Redden Emancipation Day".
Or better yet, "Glen Sather Emancipation Day".

this is not me being a typical ranger fan, but the guy honestly isn't worth much more than 2 mil a year. sure, he's serviceable, but thats about it.

Actions intended to insubordinate or sabotage a team are grounds for termination. If he goes for the money and refuses to report or acts like a total ****** when he gets there, we can probably just outright terminate him.

Suspended players have this nagging habit of not being entitled to paychecks.

why on earth would any sane person refuse a demotion and void 23 million in owed salary so he can sign CHEAP somewhere else? This would literally make him the biggest moron of all time. He wouldn't need to pay the nhl's luxury tax or whatever it is the players pay into so he'd actually make more money playing in the minors. NO way he refuses

unless there's a re-entry waivers where the claiming team is on the hook for 1/8 of the salary, this is a non issue -- he would go unclaimed.

$3.25m per year for 4 more years is still way too much for Redden. No one would claim him.

I also doubt Redden wants to go overseas at this point. He's got a family here.

I do not know about Holik, however if Drury, Redden and Gomez all took pay cuts with their respective contracts. What exactly was cut?

Either way, New York would never recall Redden and in the delusional reality they did, no team in the NHL would ever touch him. The guy is barely worthy of calling himself a NHL player at this stage of his career. He is done with absolutely certainty in my opinion.

It depends on what they're being suspended for. The NHLPA isn't going to sit there and watch if Redden gets demoted and then suspended without pay for some sort of insubordination because he's got a "bad attitude" in Hartford.

Most people living in NYC do not make 7 million a year, I think they'll be just fine.

His first year in NY he was bad so this past year, the Rangers tried to accomodate him by moving him to the third pairing lined up against the opposition's weakest lines.

He was just as bad. There are some Rangers fans who say he's a fine 4-6 NHL defenseman as long as you ignore the salary issue. I don't buy that. His play is disinterested, inconsistent and generally poor. Age and declining skills coupled with what I perceive as a poor attitude make him a liability. On a stacked young defense, in a rebuilding team, there is no need or desire for a Wade Redden.

Live in NY and then for an extended period of time and then tell me that's bull! Doesn't matter what field your in. Imagine paying $40 a day just to park? <---Cause that's very much a reality. Thats just an example. Or better yet...How about $1,800 PER MONTH just for the maintenance fee's alone on your COOP? Forget about the regular Mortgage payment that's just the maintenance! Now factor in that a 2000 sq ft Condo or Coop could cost you $1,000,000. yeah...2000sq ft. My point again...It certainly ain't cheap to live here and that goes for professional athletes as well.
