Forsberg would be a great pick-up. Exactly what this team needs; someone who can stickhandle in the offensive zone for about 59 minutes, thereby keeping the opposition to 0 shots on net.

I'm pretty sure he would take a few at MFL just to be courteous.

We'd end up losing 2 - 1.

Forsberg, who is an unrestricted free agent, could return to the Avs but is reportedly more likely to land with the Rangers, Capitals or his former Flyer club, with which he played for a season and a half from 2005 to 2007.

on another note....

why the forsberg hate? I know hes old, and i know his foot is bleh, and i especially know we get these rumors every year...BUT

who can look me in the eye and say that in the salary cap era they wouldnt want Peter Forsberg on their team for under 2mil???

forsberg with 1 leg>>>all of our players who make under 2mil (besides roo/JVR/Zherdev) oh, and shelley

if we dont even count the veteran presence (which we obviously SHOULD count)
with limited ice time and less responsibility in his own zone (aka put him on the wing) he's well WELL worth having on the team. JVR/Giroux/Foppa is just fine with me.

i mean
Richards
Carter
Briere
Foppa
Hartnell
Zherdev
Giroux
JVR
Leino

Thats a top 9.

that'd take the scoring "depth" that we so covet to another level.

not to mention our 4th line is gonna be especially tough this year.
i wont even bother mentioning how awesome our defense is (oops i just did)
and our goaltending will be FINE. Thats right it will be FINE, so quit crying.

Now WHY wouldnt we want forsberg on our team again?

not to mention forsberg had a better points/game than the league best mats zuccarello, who signed for the rangers for like 1.7mil foppa would be worth up to 2mil IMO.

Look everyone here has the same attitude. If foppa came to the flyers we would welcome him with open arms, regardless of his injury problems.

The problem is that this situation gets hyped up every single off season, and usually during the season that no one wants to build up any hope anymore. The guy can't string 10 healthy games together, he's not going to be any asset to a team in the NHL, if he can't do it in europe, and if he's honest with himself, he knows this.

Yeah Forsberg is great...awesome stick handler.....great back in his day, when hes healthly.. After we sign Forsberg we can sign Favre to tend goal.... 5 years each at 4 million per....

How long has it been since he's been able to play healthy..Doesn't matter how great you are, if you can't stay on the ice, you aren't doing us any favors.

Sure he would be a great guy to have in the locker room, do we have to sign him to our already horrid cap situation to get that? Higher the guy to simply hang out in the locker room if you want that leadership.

Walnut Crunch. Unfortunately, it resulted in a concussion....

I'd be just fine with Forsberg returning to the NHL. But only for the commercials.

Forsberg-Richards-Zherdev
JVR-Carter-Giroux
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Carcillo-Betts-Laperriere
Powe

I would be OK with this move at the deadline! Very OK.

His foot.

NASA had to be contacted to build his last skate.

If he could return to form, of course we'd want him.

I don't want to get my hopes up because I don't think this will happen, but if we sign him he'll obviously help our team greatly even if he only plays 50% of games.

Let him rest a bunch before the playoffs and we will be a great playoff team.

"If it's going to be like this, I don't think I'll be able to continue playing," said Forsberg. "... After today, the odds are slim that I'll play. It's about how the foot sits in the skate. It doesn't function and it hasn't functioned well in a long time."
