I agree that cycling the puck down low was more effective but you must have the threat of a good shooter on the point otherwise the PKing team will not pressure the point men and so there wont be any space for the guys down low.
And that's why I wonder what Sharp was doing on the point. He is a sniper and is more effective around the circles than on the point. He doesn't have a slapper that would justify his place on the point, IMO. Do the Hawks have any players coming up who would have a respectable heavy slapshot. Not that it's a must to have a heavy shot on the point, but it offers another option for the PP.

Because after the puck is established down low the Hawks often bring the 4th man down low. Sharp did this (usually) on the 1st unit and Campbell on the 2nd. Keith and Seabrook were (usually) the guy who stayed high. ... This is important because if the **** hits the fan they would be the guys you want defending the 2 on 1 coming back at you.
Many posters during the year complained (asked) why Q would not just keep Keith and Seabrook together on either unit 1 or 2 ... This is why. This is also why after the PP we always saw the 3rd line (best defensive) forwards and either the 3rd pairing D-men or Keith with Sopel because as the PP ends both Campbell and Seabrook need a break.
As Hjalmarsson develops he will get more PP time ... He is the guy Scotty compared to Lidstrom. However Q was clear that they want him to develop his game unrushed. Once they feel his is ready for that role maybe the pairings stay together on the PP.
And no offense to the Culli guy at all but Kaberle to Chicago (unless Keith or Campbell are gone) is not a bad move it is a stupid move. And to tell you the truth unless Kaberle could make the same type of commitment to actually playing defense that Campbell has made I wouldn't want Kaberle on the Hawks at any price.
You're telling me that if Toronto is around the 12 spot toward the deadline, and he has a chance to go to a playoff contender in Chicago, he'd use his NTC to veto a trade? He may do that, but it seems insane.
Toronto was offered Jeff Carter AND a 1st round pick for Kaberle but Kaberle Vetoed the trade.
Toronto was offered Pronger for Kaberle and Steen but Kaberle vetoed the trade.
I know its insane but I think if a deal comes up after August 15, Kaberle will veto it.

Kaberle didn't veto the Pronger trade. JFJ did, cause he didn't want to give up Alex Steen...
He has used his trade veto in the past when the Leafs were way out of the playoffs.
And Burke isnt going to wait to till the deadline when the Hawks might want him if Kaberle wants to waive.
He will either be traded before the 15th or he will be resigned.
Also said this week will be busy on the Kaberle front.
Burke says lots of things ,,, Doesn't make them true
Kaberle has failed to get the value Burke has been looking for. With his upcoming UFA status next summer his value is not what it was in past. His value wont spike upwards unless a team loses a keith offensive dman to injury early in year or at trade deadline Burke can get a bidding war started
Yes, because that wasn't serious. I'm that dumb. I think Beach is a good prospect and could get the deal done straigh up, like someone else said. Even though I'm 15, I know better than that.
You're 15 years-old? From your posts I thought you were older. Well done.
You'll need a bit of a thick-skin sometimes in here, but I'm sure you can handle it.
Beach and a pick might get it done. From what I'm hearing now, if he's traded, it wouldn't be at a time in which the Hawks could afford him. People have been wrong before, though.
Beach alone would get Kaberle. Your proposal is similiar to that of a fourteen year old Leafs fan.
