VERY WELL SAID.

I liked him when he was in the NHL and he busted his ass EVERY shift. I am not sure many people could argue he did not give us his best. Best of Luck Riley!

Cheers.

Yet he knocked out Colton Orr. No one wins them all.

Great News and Good Luck to him!

This organization gets ripped unfairly for supposedly not taking care of their own. Ask Toc.

I just heard the news. Great for him and great for the Phantoms. Kind of a best case scenario. He'll be a players coach for sure. Nice to see him both stay with the organization and NOT on the ice.

Always respected by me. Glad to see he's gonna stick with the Flyers so they can keep the carnival going strong, and so Holly Cote is still in Philly. Class act, Riley. You embodied grit and determination.

Very unskilled and not the best fighter but he had heart, determination and the work ethic to try to get better. He is a tough SOB and i will always respect him. I wish him luck in this new chapter in his career. I think with his traits he could make a good coach one day.

Glad Riley can stay in the organization to some degree.

Glad hes not on the payroll now, it was useless space.

ALTHOUGH, he could have retired like, at the end of the season. Maybe homer would have made way less retarded moves?

Best of luck to him in life after hockey. He was pretty useless on the ice, but you gotta respect his attitude and hard work. To have even made it as far as he did took enormous dedication given his lack of talent. Good on ya, Riley.

I'm glad he's still with the organization, even happier that he's not taking up Cap space anymore.

I'm glad for his sake, he has taken too many punches to the head and he had no future in the NHL.

So how will Homer squander his cap hit?

Never met him in real life, but the consesus seems to be that he is one of the nicer people. Also, his dedication on the ice and in fights where he clearly was overmatched was inspiring.

Always was worried that his skull would crack open in one of those fights though so I'm absolutely happy for him that he can quit the NHL on his own terms (health-wise I mean). Having lived his dream, still being healthy and still staying part of the Flyers after quitting is all you can wish for him.

As good of a person as he is, I want no part of him coaching. At all.

I think it will hinder progress of our prospects.

I actually disagree . . . some of the worst players end up being good coaches because they understand the little things much better than the highly skilled guys. . . plus if anything I think he'll be a driving force and get guys to bust their *****.

probably on nachos and cheese.

i don't know about this. he spent a LOT of time working on his own game, trying to get himself more competitive on the NHL level. he could actually be pretty good as a coach, because of that experience of constantly needing to improve basically every aspect of his game.
