Yes, but when the Rays decide not to hit, it happens. 137 pitches is crazy in today's game, Doc was on and didn't need that many which is why I concur with SI ranking Doc's perfecto first.

39 K - 9 BB for an 18 year old in his first stint in pro ball seems impressive.

Herndon is awful.
Bastardo didn't look very good.

Kendrick has been good for the most part the last few months. Just every now and then he is really bad. He's the 5th starter anyway so whatever.

The bullpen is consistently awful.

In the playoff, we should run a 3 man rotation. On the day Halladay pitches, we use Roy and Cole out of the bullpen, when Cole pitches, we have both Roys in the BP, and when Roy pitches, we have Halladay and Cole out of the bullpen.

This plan is our only chance.

Beats the hell out of depending on Baez, Madson and Lidge.

This was Kendrick's first stinker of a start since getting recalled from AAA. Everybody relax. He sucks, it's not exactly news. That said, he's fine as a #5 starter. And, guess what, #5 starters are going to have ****** outings here and there.

Now, if the bullpen could have done even a semblance of its job, we might have still had a chance in this one. At one point does Amaro (or Charlie) euthanize Baez? Not soon enough. Is it too late to send Herndon back to LAA?

Tomorrow is Oswalt's first start in front of the home fans. Time to rebound. I'm expecting him to be excellent and for us to get back on the winning side of things.

Oh, and congrats to Dom Brown for hitting his first HR in the big leagues.

He was up and down. Mostly down in the field really, up at the plate. He had the stupid mistake where he misjudged the line drive to the track and couldn't get back to it, was throwing with a little too much on it and overran one. Sac fly, homer, and double were good, just want to see that kind of production in a close game, too, but really a decent night for the rookie.

Otherwise, tonight was a waste of my time. I went and watched Kendrick absolutely blow. He was all over the place, and I knew very early on this outing would be brief. Hell of a spot to throw in Bastardo, but as before he still couldn't throw strikes when he needed to. Herndon looked good the first inning he went out there, but he's never been able to go out for multiple innings with us and was surprised Charlie did that. I understand you want the guy to eat some innings up, but narrow the gap, start taking the game seriously.

I don't normally leave games early, even when we're getting killed, but there was some half-assed efforts out there with fielding mistakes and terrible pitching, and I couldn't stand to wait around after Brown's HR.

Hoping to wash away the taste of tonight's sour grapes by going out tomorrow to see just a small town Roy.

The Byrd Cage was my favorite.

Wolf Pack was the original
