Listening to what everyone had to say about Irving swayed me. It is funny how quickly people get thrown under the bus when they have one bad season. I never thought he was a bust, but definitely that he had lost a step and was no where near what he once was going to be.

So I went with Irving.

Irving over Howse and Brodie? Really? Why? He was awful last season.

not really confident with Irving at this point. he still has a lot of potential but he needs to clear out some question marks this season.

my vote goes to howse, he's a very stereotypical Darryl Sutter prospect but he looks to be going somewhere right now

I love how people were ready to make Shantz the backup to Kipper this season because of his 'great play'... but in reality Irving and Shantz weren't that far off each other and the only goaltender that was "awful" in Keetley actually had the best numbers... the only difference between Shantz and Irving's seasons were when they got hot and the amount of goal support they recieved

Keetley: 23GP - 10W - 7L - 1SOL - 2.59GAA - .912SV% - 2 Shutouts
Shantz: 32GP - 15W - 10L - 4SOL - 2.75GAA - .908SV% - 1 Shutout
Irving: 35GP - 14W - 17L - 2SOL - 2.76GAA - .905SV% - 1 Shutout

Thanks for posting. Looking at those numbers and numbers only from one season the future in goal is a mixed bag. That said it is based on Irving stepping back. He has the potential to do much better than those numbers and I hope he can turn it around this season.

Their is no way Howse/Brodie are 8th and 9th depth wise.

I agree with Irving in the 7 spot, but completely disagree with the 5/6 spots.

Pelech and Nerin got into those spots because they are the best players, not necessarily the best prospects. But Negrin and Pelech are much more rounded than the one sided Howse and Brodie.

Anyway, it looks like Irving is the unanimous decision. I'll make a new one.

both Howse and Brodie are high risk prospects... they have higher end potential but have a lesser chance at making the NHL... Pelech is almost a sure thing to be an NHLer and Negrin is getting close to that status too... there is more to top prospects than the absolute high end... you have to factor in the probability of the player making the NHL as well... and both Brodie and Negrin have top 4 potential... the difference between the 2 is Negrin has the size and defensive ability to be a botton pairing defenseman, Brodie doesn't

"Vote for the best prospect based on potential and talent. NOT for who is the most NHL ready".

The quote above is how I am ranking our prospects.

Plus both Negrin and Pelech have had time to develop their all around games in professional hockey which both Brodie or Howse have yet to do.

I would also say that Brodie has a greater chance of becoming a Top 4 defensemen than both Negrin/Pelech, the risk is though if he doesnt he will not be in the NHL.

I never said NHL ready... potential is more than just how good they might be its also about their odds of ever making it

So I take it Brodie and Howse will be the next two ranked prospects... in what order though remains to be seen. If Howse can at least mirror this past season this year then this time next year we should hopefully see him ratchet up on this list to top 3-5 imo.
