Who do you want?

Let's just say the world warped itself, the sky began to boil, reality and time decided to take a Valium and some mushrooms and Nashville could pick up just one player who was not within the Predators system who would it be. Any player in the world right now. Could be in Europe, NHL, CHL, anywhere. Who would be the best fit for the Preds with this roster. One player cap free, paid for by the benevolent Hockey Gods.

The guy I would run a rusty butter knife across anyone's throat would be Jarome Iginla.

Who would be your choice?

Um... Sidney... Crosby?

I think the answers will be pretty obvious here... so I'll be a smart-ass and say Anna Kendrick.

Tons of guys but in my dreamland.

I would have Bobby Ryan on the Predators.... and still be able to keep Ryan Suter. It'll never happen though.

edit: I don't think some of you know how much I love Bobby Ryan.

Toews or Datsyuk.

I hate Crosby and Ovechkin, they are the best players in the NHL but they would not be a Preds type player. Toews and Datsyuk are two that I can see entering our system seamlessly and making a huge impact. Now I would want Datsyuk's skills over Toews right now, but with youth I would take Toews.

No, I think he would wear out his welcome pretty quickly in Nashville, certainly with the coaches if not with the fans.

agreed. Ovechkin is the flashier player, but in terms of all-around play, attitude, and so on...I take Crosby. Ovechkin's antics have begun to annoy me, and he's not even on my team.

I will leave out AO and Crosby, although one of the two would be ultimately who I'd pick.

My non-conventional vote: Patrick Kane

I could not disagree more. Having lived in DC for the past three years and watched the Caps closely, I can say without reservation that Ovy is a once in a generation player. He may be flashy, he may have antics, but this guy is the most complete hockey player we'll see in this era. No one tries harder than ovechkin. His energy and enthusiasm for the game may be mistaken as arrogance or as being dirty, but I guarantee you the coaching staff would have no problem getting this guy to play. Not only is he gifted offensively, but he can provide a spark like Tootoo when it's needed. He hustles when it counts and his teammates rally around him like no other. He would sell tickets every night and back it up on the ice.

Would have to go with a stud center, Crosby or Lecavalier

Ovie. I know im going to get bashed for this one, but hear me out.

Yes, he has no class. Yes, his antics get old. But this city needs a star player that brings media attention. The Preds need the publicity, and Ovie would bring both that and a superstar scorer.

Ovechkin.

Attitude? Antics?

who gives a ****ake mushroom?

he'd fill the net and fill the barn for at least the next ten years...

remember when there was rumor that we were working a deal for him? I suspect there had to have been a grain of truth to that. He would be the one player worth trading a hoard of assets for

But there's other guys in the league that could do the same for us. Ovechkin isn't the only superstar in the league. I'd just rather have one that wasn't so...the way he is.

I also didn't give that rumor credence at the time, and still don't. Not only was it an Eklund rumor(at a time when he didn't have ANY credibility, as opposed to now, where it's 99 percent BS, but with a 1 percent accuracy rate), but it was rumored to be a one for one swap for Weber...something the Capitals wouldn't do.

Sidney Crosby. Like others have said, OV seems to have potential attitude problems.

Actually I'm pretty sure Eklund had MORE credibility with preds rumors at that time and the deal was NOT simply Weber for Ovechkin. I'm thinking it had to do with Erat and Picks, can't remember if Weber or Suter was involved.

No class? Really? Because he ordered a bunch of food and sent it to Crosby's hotel room?

I don't know what you're refering to, but would love to hear it. I don't understand why people hate on him so much. He is as good if not better the Crosby. They have different skill sets, but both are amazing. The differnece is Ovechkin shows his emotion for the game. So what if he pretends his stick is on fire or paints flames on his skates. He's an entertainer. That doesn't mean he has no class.

Outside of the big 3 of Malkin/Crosby/Ovechkin. I think Stamkos would be the forward. On the back end, probably Drew Doughty. In net, Rask.

haha from a Red Wings POV, I'd love to take Shea Weber off your hands

What are the chances you guys dont sign him once he becomes a RFA and let the Wings replace Lidstrom with him?
