Although I think Sather was justified making that gamble, where would Toots fit on this roster

Anywhere from 2nd to 5th. I'm leaning towards 5th.

Behind Staal and Rozsival, definitely ahead of Del Zotto, maybe a bit ahead of Girardi. Definitely a 2nd pair guy on this team.

Tyutin had a pretty average year last season, given he started real slow.

He might be 2nd/3rd best behind Staal & Rosi.

But I also think that he would have to be 2nd pairing.

He'd be our second best D, but on the second pair as the on-ice leader. Not that they have any better options, but he did lead Columbus the last couple of years in TOI. In fact, I firmly believe Roszival would have been traded already if Tyutin was still here.

Right behind Staal. In my personal opinion, it's not even much of a debate.

Why the heck is Rozy getting rated so highly, since his hip injury he can't skate, he doesn't clear the net, he no longer shoots and he's afraid of contact.

yes. Dan Girardi gets way too much crap for just a few bonehead plays a year. Girardi is a solid defenseman. Tyutin is a solid defenseman as well, but I like Girardi a tiny bit more.

Rozsival is our 2nd best defenseman. hes only a little overpaid, and brings veteran leadership to our defense. hes a solid player.

Behind Staal and Rozsival. On par with or maybe a bit ahead of Girardi.

Tyutin is a defensive defenseman, read little offense

I think he is perhaps a 2nd pairing defense for NY

but I don't think he displaces Staal, Girardi, Rozi or MDZ

so he would be on the 3rd pairing and actually would make a nice pairing with Gilroy
