Hypothetically speaking of course.
Agreed, but I haven't heard anything about Simmonds being dealt, I don't believe he is going to Toronto for a second.

I still don't see Simmonds getting traded, if DL wouldn't trade him for Kovy why would he trade him for someone else?

If we do sign Mitchell, I bet it's going to be a significant overpayment. That might be the only way to get him here.

He probably wants a longer term deal.

I agree in some ways but, maybe Simmonds could have had something happen (speculating so don't read anything into it) that could have seen him become somewhat more expendable now than he was back when the Kovy deal was originally being discussed.

Not saying that it makes any sense to deal Simmonds, just saying that who knows what could have happened over these past several months.

I have heard over and over again that we made an offer for Kaberle awhile ago but that it wasn't anywhere near what TO wanted and that they have tried to get us talking again but we aren't biting so take that for what it is worth. From what I have heard it is a big no to TK but then I have been very much against dealing for him so I am biased against it.

TO would make sense if they wanted to send Kessel our way but other than him they really don't have anything that I think would be a good fit for us.

Well if Vancouver moves stuff around they can likely afford to give him 1.5 - 2 so it'd likely have to be 2 years at 3 mil per, at least

The thing is, Brown is a happily married guy raising two kids who bleeds purple. It is hard for me to see the Kings trading the guy they hope everyone of the kids ends up becoming. Simmonds, on the other hand, likes the life of a single, professional athlete just a little too much. If it is between Brown and Simmonds, Dustin isn't going anywhere.

We could use a PMD and Mitchell. Our D is immobile.

Dancing boy says that the Kings offered 2 years to Mitchell and he wants 3. Anyone else worried that Dean won't be able to close another UFA signing?

Willie Mitchell
Sources say he was with the Kings doctors this weekend and everything checked out - He was offered a 2-year deal by the Kings although he was looking for 3. Late tonight I got a text saying Mitchell was giving Vancouver a last crack but I could not confirm. Kypreos also confirmed via twiiter the Kings are close (then again, he tweeted Kovi was done in L.A. as well).

he wants 3 doesn't seem like anyone is giving him that so he may have to settle for 2, if he does choose LA though no doubt we have to overpay.

Savard's contract is under investigation. It was a side note in this thread...

I'd hesitate to give a guy coming off a concussion a 3 year deal too.

I might be okay with 3 years depending on the price. His last contract was 3.5m per year.

huge fan of mitchell ever since his MIN playoff performances...but risking that Mitchell can give you three productive years without concussion issues is a bet i wouldnt take. 2 years max....1 would be appropriate with incentives based on GP's

I'd say sign Mitchell for 2 years at somewhere between 2.5-3M per.

I've said this before and now it even makes more sense. Give him a two year deal. 1st year 1.5, 2nd year 3.5. Team option for a 3rd year at 3. Not sure if the option year is allowed but it would make sense for both sides. Gives Mitchell 5 mill, a good cap hit for the kings and incetive for Mitchell to perform and take care of himself and earn the third year.

Ya well, that sounds like what DL has already offered. But if WM wants 3 years, DL will chicken out again and we get nothing..

Chicken out or Cloutier/Mccauley out. I'd love to have Mitchell but anything over 2 years at around 3 per is overpayment when you consider his health concerns.

I believe the current CBA doesn't allow for team options anymore.

I HOPE it's a 2-year deal, heck a one year deal would be the best. We have a ******** of money tied up in offensively inept defensemen as it is.
