Actually, I am all for it!
They have some pretty good arguments.
The Cup should be assigned every year, no matter what.

joke on NHL, thnking from that would be if our dear leafs can't win it on ice then maybe they should find creative ways to end 37 years of drought. Who ever gets cup will be ashamed and probably ridiculed by all sports casters.

Give me the cup, I don't care what people think(especially sports casters, no really!)!

I don't give a damn about all sports caster, I will have won the cup once in my life and not them... (Not that I have any good enough hockey skills to win any trophy )

A key part of his argument will be based on instructions Lord Stanley left with an aide in a letter when he donated the Cup.

''I have for some time been thinking that it would be a good thing if there were a challenge cup which should be held from year to year by the champion hockey team in the Dominion of Canada,'' he wrote. ''There does not appear to be any such outward sign of a championship at present and considering the general interest which matches now elicit and the importance of having the game played fairly and under rules generally recognized, I am willing to give a cup which shall be held from year to year by the winning team.''

Will there be a 'champion team' from the NHL this season - No
Was Lord Stanleys original intent to have his cup go to the best team 'year to year' in the Dominion of Canada- Yes

Exactly, so I don't see where would be the problem with my team winning the cup!

It would just be perpetuating the original tradition started more than 100 years ago by Lord Stanley!

I agree. let some Canadian teams play for it in a knockout tournament... It would spark up some interest again, which, lets be brutally honest here, hockey needs right now!!!

Lord Stanley was right, let the teams of canada play for it!!!!

Uh, where do you a link between people's morale and the Stanley Cup? I mean, if anything the NHL and the NHLPA should go stick something up their ass about the Stanley Cup, they dont deserve it...
