I'd love to nab Travis Moen for the Canucks bottom-6.

Not banking on The Habs wanting to deal him, but still...

It's probably Bieksa and Hordichuk for Maxim Lapierre and a 2nd.

This doesn't make any sense. As a Habs fan I want no part of this.

Ditto. I don't want Bieksa, his defensive shortcomings or his high salary. Just get Price signed and drop the puck.

Montreal have no need for Bieksa, they dont have cap space for Bieksa except if an other d-man goes in return( Spacek, Hamrlik ) and I dont think it would happen, VAN can easily get a 2nd pick + prospect back for Bieksa. Montreal are stack at defence

I'd love Tornidi but the problem is that Montreal can't take on cap either.

Do you mean Tinordi? If so, no chance in hell.
He's just what the Habs need. If all goes well in 4-5 years Montreal will have Subban and Gorges at the top of their games. Markov will be about 37 and hopefully still contributing. Tinordi is the big shut down defenceman we Habs fans have been wanting and he should be NHL ready by then.

Nucks should trade Bieksa to a team that actually needs him. The Habs don't need him at all.

Looking at players I would say maybe O'Byrrne and Maxwell for Bieksa, but it still doesn't fit Habs salary wise with an unsigned Price. O'Byrne and Maxwell are both young and BC boys, plus with an injured Salo, O'Byrne is another Dman for the team ahead of Rome and Alberts.

Other than that I don't see a deal unless there is more involved from both sides.

Once Price is finally signed, the Habs are set for the season. They will have approx. 1.5 million in cap-space. They will have roughly the same roster as last season except healthier. (with exception of Markov of course). They will have one or two spots for young players (Eller / MaxPac). They will have Subban. There really is little left to do unless a big top-6 forward suddenly becomes available which is wishful thinking.

Bieksa is not an option unless Spacek/Hammer is going the other way. Even that isn't even an option as Spacek/Hammer have NTC's.

He played a couple of games on forward last year and was actually pretty decent. He looked like he wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do but given more time on forward he could probably learn. He is imposing on the fore-check.

So we pay a guy 3+ million to be a PP specialist and 4th line checking forward? Why not just re-sign MAB to the league minimum if required?

This just in (I made it up); Ehrhoff, Schnieder and Schroeder for Chara, Lucic and Thomas.

If demand is high, I'm hoping Gillis can nab one of the following for Bieksa+ (Shirikov, late pick, fringe player):

O'Byrne+2nd
Pacioretty+6th
Travis Moen

Probably wishful thinking, but Gillis has surprised me before.

None of those make any sense from a Habs POV. In fact its near impossible given the cap limits to start off with.

If both teams are in deep in terms of cap troubles, then I can't see a deal being worked out anyways.

So if Montreal is indeed interested, it would probably have to be on the understanding that the Canucks ideally want to bring back as little salary as possible. The question is, is Montreal prepared to make another move to make room for Bieksa? Or, are the Habs management going to make the pot sweet enough to make Gillis approach the Canucks owner and ask him to swallow a bit of money in the minors to take on a good, well paid player from montreal?

MOntreal is not interested in Bieksa. Its illogical. They are set for the season once Price is re-signed. They will have 1.5 million in cap-space for injuries / moves. They have a full roster similar to last season but hopefully healthier. They have a spot open for one of Eller/MaxPac. Subban will get a spot on defense. They have 7 NHL quality d-men under contract. Bieksa is not on the Habs radar unless Hamrlik or Spacek goes in return. Which ain't happening.
