I live in DC and watched a bit of the Skins game tonight. Chris Cooley (or Fred Davis, if he supplants him) is going to have a big season. Anyway, I went to college around here, so I have plenty of friends that are Redskins fans. They're like pigs in slop right now -- after a preseason game against the Bills. You'd think they're primed for a 16-0 season.
I haven't been able to watch the game... which Eagles have impressed so far?
Haven't seen the full game but apparently Vick is looking like the Atlanta Vick and Kolb made a couple questionable decisions. Riley Cooper seems to be earning his roster spot.

A couple bad choices, but also some real nice throws. Kind of a mixed bag, hopefully he settles down.

Get used to Kolb making questionable decisions, it's going to happen. He's just going to need to learn from his mistakes and evolve as a QB. Vick looking like Atlanta Vick, you say? Great news. Can you imagine if Kolb sucks and Vick takes over as the starter? Wild.
Kolb was good, Vick was good running and passing with the exception of that INT and fumble, and Cooper was impressive. The first-team defense was exceptional, but the 2nd team got blown apart 3 different times on long bombs by McCown, and they weren't even close. Our CB depth scares me, badly.

...Going to say it...Vick looked no better than Kolb. His mistakes were bigger and more glaring and went beyond the INT and Fumble. He definitely was bailed out a few times by Cooper and Buckley. If Vick is our QB our season is toast...it will be exciting but we will suck. Sure we might see some awesome runs, but we'd also see a ton of INTs and fumbles.

Just finished watching the game. Vick was better then Kolb, not by alot, but was better. He seemed more comfortable which is to be expected. Vick's passes, most of the time, were right on target. Kolb needs to learn to not stare at 1 receiver. The defense were reading him like a book on some plays. That being said, he was pretty accurate at times, while others he was lucky didnt get intercepted (see Avant reaching back and making sure it wasnt an INT).
I do see Kolb learning as times goes on. But one thing I DO disagree with you on is that, if Kolb went down, Vick would have a worse season. It will exactly be the same. Im not even a Vick supporter, but he has looked better this preseason. Like AH said earlier we need to prepare ourselves for all the INT and fumbles that will happen with Kolb. Its a learning process but its going to happen.
Hall had a good game and I was happy for him. I do hope he makes the team. Cooper had a solid game. Howard (the left offensive lineman) had a REALLY good game and just ate the DE's. Mallet was VERY good. Played solid for the 2nd team, and was a monster with the 3rd team. Kafka had a pretty solid game, acouple of his throws should have been caught but otherwise a good game. Jackson/Maclin looked good as always. Celek didnt look amazing but looked alright. A few of the passes should have been caught and they werent.
Overally, I was HIGHLY impressed with the defense this game. If they can play that well, it would greatly benefit us.
EDIT: Oh, did wanna say I hope Kolb doesnt get hurt. He is our starter and Im not against that.
EDIT2: And the OL did a very good job. I gotta say, they are what makes me nervous. They gave Kolb ample amount of time, which he was able to use.
I think it was huge that our defense started off with 2 three and outs. It may only be preseason, but for a team searching for an identity that was a good start together.
This is a TEAM. You can tell they all play for each other and like each other. I love that about these young guys.
The Philadelphia Eagles' running back corps continued to suffer from the injury bugaboo at this morning's training camp session at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus.
Starting halfback LeSean McCoy did not practice with what Eagles' officials called a "thigh contusion."
Since the afternoon session (2 o'clock) is special-teams only, it is exceedingly unlikely McCoy would be around for that. Eagles officials did not give a timetable for his return.
Eldra Buckley took first-team snaps this morning at halfback, and was not sharp, dropping a pass and fumbling on a running play.
Reserve halfback Martell Mallett joined sick call with a left knee hyperextension. Already out were running backs Mike Bell and J.J. Arrington.
Free agent Chad Hall, a wide receiver and returner who also has gotten a few snaps at halfback, may suddenly be getting more; he ran with the second team this morning.
He should be fine. Running backs take poundings. Shut him down for a few days (and maybe the next preseason game), and feature one of the other 50 RB/FB's on the squad currently.

Yea. The only problem is that, Bell, Arrington, and now McCoy is hurt. It is pretty sad when you have Buckley taking 1st team snaps.
EDIT: Arrington came back to practice... but he's always hurt so he doesnt count.
