Hey Kyle, you go to floyd often? If you have, there's a pretty good chance I've played with/against you and didn't even know it

But a bunch of my friends are going off to college that I played HS and youth hockey with for many years and we're going to head up to floyd within the next week or so before everybody goes away, so maybe we'll run into eachother

It was just created over the past few days

I've been playing ice since I was 7 and just got outta HS, played all 4 years, roller is more of local pickup for me, nothing too serious

Oh ok, that may explain it.lol

How much does skating, especially stopping differ from roller to ice?

from what i hear from my buddies taht are really into roller but play ice (cause i dont play roller) stopping in roller is like making a sharp turn in ice. obviously you cant dig into asphalt with roller blades but on ice you can dig into the ice with your blades to stop quickly and abruptly. also not regarding stopping but the wheels of roller blades are longer than the blades of ice skates so you may feel a bit off balanced if you are not used to that

Nice, I may start going to you for sharpenings, that's $2 cheaper than it is at Ice Vault. Are the sharpeners there pretty good? My only concern is that whoever does it does a solid job.

I got a standard cut there, and the dude broke out a level to check it for straightness and measured it... at the front and back rocker.

Solid job.

FBV is somewhat difficult to do- I only let three people do it because there is literally no room for error. If the edges aren't dead on, you'll be sliding around. Thats why we always use the square to check on an FBV.

Also, Ice Vault uses Blackstone FBV and we have the Blademaster FBV. There are differences between the two. There are supposed advantages and disadvantages to both...If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to go into it but it is a bit lengthy...

Thank you.

We don't always use the square, but we often do upon customer request, so don't be afraid to ask...

MSU was planning on doing paving somewhere near the Floyd lot. Supposedly, it is going to be done by tomorrow morning, but that - like everything - may be subject to change. Updates will be available on their site.

I'm glad you mentioned that, I currently have the Blackstone version and am very happy with it, so not sure I want to switch again.
