Are you serious ? He was terrible with the Remparts. Patrick Roy kicked his ass out of town.

Having seen Delmas a fair amount down here, I can say that he looks pretty solid. I still say that Corbeil looked like the goalie of the two with more "upside"/potential, but I have no idea how much dealing with his hip may have factored into that. Looking at just the stats, you'd really think that Delmas is clearly the "better" of the two, but I'm not so sure. Definitely more consistent. I caught a few of his games when he first came to Halifax, including their convincing win over the Sags and their win a couple of days later against the Volts. Both games were part of his big week that saw him win CHL Goalie of the Week.

He was alright in the first win (not very busy... which is why it kinda sucked seeing his shutout spoiled in the 3rd), but pretty spectacular in the second (the Mooseheads were out-shot big time, and Delmas' efforts earned him first star that game). I also caught him in the game against the Sea Dogs, when he seemed pretty normal, although I think he was hung out to dry a few times in that game. The other goalie was still pretty fresh when the shoot out came around, and he owned the Halifax shooters.

As far as any "scouting report", there really isn't that much to say. Like I said, he's solid. No skills that immediately stand out as "wow", but he's positionally pretty good, recovers well, and doesn't seem to battle the puck or get caught not following the puck well. Didn't notice anything glaring with regards to rebound control, but with only Corbeil to compare to, I don't know if that really says much. All-in-all, pretty good signs if he was supposedly battling his hip throughout it all. He's also obviously pretty good with the stick, I mean, he HAS scored a goal in his Q career, right? Like I said, he's pretty consistent, doesn't fall victim to as many of the "brain cramps" that I've seen from Corbeil. Was kinda surprised when I was reminded that he's a former 2nd round pick. I dunno, seems like someone like that should seem a bit more "remarkable" when you see them play in the Q.

I wouldn't mind getting to see more of him in the upcoming Mooseheads season, but I'd honestly rather observe Corbeil's progress. Like the article suggests, trading the overaged Delmas for a piece or two to put in front of Corbeil might make more sense for the team and give me a few more wins to watch this year.

Sounds decent if he is healthy, like his size and seems to have some potential.

Why ask about his playing ability? Who even cares about that?

Does he speak French?

I guess he played hurt last year, hip injury that he had surgery on after the season. He was pretty good at 16 and 17 but struggled the last 2 years. He costs nothing to look at...he was a 2nd rounder in 2008 by Colorado and they didn't sign him by June 1st.

Guarantee he speaks a bit. As in, whatever you learn in grade school (all the schools out here in the Bedford/Waverly/Fall River corridor have always had good French teachers - I can even vouch for some of the recent ones, as they were in French Immersion with me at C.P.A High School in Bedford over 15 years ago), and whatever you pick up living in Quebec for a while.

Sorry for the serious answer to a non-serious question.

Goalie invited to rookie camp

Newspaper in Halifax this morning had this bit about Mooseheads goalie, Peter Delmas, getting an invite to Habs camp. He could be an interesting pickup.

Ya, this was up on the boards last week (http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t...ghlight=delmas), but it's on RDS today as well:

August is going so slowly! Can't wait for camp to start.

does this mean Colorado didn't sign Delmas and he became a UFA?

Congrats on the kid. Injuries set him back but he's here now and I hope he makes an impression.

Sounds like we could help strengthen our goaltending prospects with him if he impresses.

He had an excellent season with Halifax last year. Bounced back from some injuries very well in my opinion. Still a solid prospect for sure. To answer the poster above, Colorado didn't choose to offer him a contract so he became UFA yes.

I think this goes a long way to show us why Desjardins was traded for Ramo. Looks like maybe they are thinking a 20 year old Delmas is a better choice for an AHL seat. Ramo playing in the KHL is a perfect fit if Montrael keeps Delmas in the A.

Delmas won't be in the AHL, Sanford and Mayer are slated to be the 2 goalies there. They could sign him and send him back to the Q if they really like him.

this

it is nice to take a chance on a young goalie, and then maybe they can add him to their assets by putting him in the Q.

Essentially he will be just another guy to stop pucks at camp for now. Hope he brings
his his A game

In very loosely relative news, Anthony Terenzino was drafted in the 6th Round by the Mooseheads and is joining them this season. He shares the exact same birthday as me

You cant tell a whole lot but his movement is pretty solid.
Looks pretty big. Why not give him a try?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixKq1Q8YqV0

Anyone knows why the Aves didnt sign him?
Still think they owe a goalie, is that Delmas?

Maybe his team has sucked for the past 3 years, but those aren't good numbers.

Also, no surprise that he's 6'3. I'm starting to think Montréal's management really believes in form fitting equipment.

In:
Alex Auld - 6'4
Karri Ramo - 6'2
Peter Delmas* - 6'3

Note: * = potentially

Still here:
Carey Price - 6'3
Petteri Simila - 6'6
Robert Mayer - 6'1

Out:
Jaroslav Halak - 5'11
Cederick "The Entertainer" Desjardins - 6'0

Can't comment on his other two teams, but the Halifax team he was on last year was terrible. Last in the Q I do believe. At least second to last, can't remember which.
