Amerks win, Roy returns, Pominville breaks ankle

The injury parade continues as Poms goes down with a broken ankle. Bartovic is back, Roy is back (for now), and the team wins. But they seem destined to need replacement bodies, that's for sure.

I am not familiar with the AHL trade/loan system. What are the chances of the Amerks bringing in some players like J'Bo or Weiss? Slim or none?

What about other Sabre prospects, like MacArthur? Or how about some other unsigned players?

Sorry for my ignorance on the subject.

Clarke is the best bet, I think the only way players can come in now is through ATOs, but not sure.

Nobody can be brought in except ATO players and lower level players. The Amerks management screwed up big time this season. Little depth heading into the season which wasn't addressed at any point during the season even though two players were lost for the year.

And the thing that pisses me off the worst it the Amerks are playing Hamilton without McMorrow. And no one is even brought in to protect any of the scorers. Word from the people who went is that the Bulldogs were cheap shotting the Amerks all night. How retarded are the people who run this team? It's been nothing but bad decisions after bad decisions this year. The Amerks don't have the players to replace Pominville's 30 goals. The Calder Cup was looking slim to begin with, then Pominville goes down for the year. It's just not meant to be. And it starts from the top with upper management.

Could they for example, have bought in somebody like Andrew Peters to protect the skill guys?

I mean, come on, surely somebody like Novotny would have been expendible for a guy who could have gone some way to ensuring Pominville, Roy, Vanek etc. were not cheap shotted and were safe on the ice?

I dont really see Vanek getting injured very easilly from a goon, obviously cheap shots are almost unavoidable but Vanek can hold his own when it comes to the rough stuff.

Novotny's not even playing because he's injured. They have room to bring someone in, they just didn't think to do it. Now they realize the importance of Sean McMorrow. And as for Andrew Peters...no. They'd have to get a tough guy out the UHL, ECHL, or another minor league.

It's infuriating that the organization sat on its hands when talented players were being moved all over the place. Once again, we see the parent club doing things on the cheap. And for something new, it seems Gage has lost his touch in terms of sprinkling a few people of his own in the lineup to replace the depletions.

As others have pointed out, they're stuck since they made no moves. The concern then, one that has been born out, was a lack of quality depth up front. Now that the injuries have struck, players will be marked. I can see Hamilton going after Roy and Taylor physically -- even a series of hard, clean hits could put Roy back on the shelf and wearing Taylor down leaves the team with only one round left in the proverbial chamber: Vanek.

My hope is that Vanek's recent tear, the one that seems to co-incide with his being snubbed as rookie of the year (what 16 goals in 14 games now to close out the season after tonight's hattrick?) will fuel him going into the playoffs to the point that he can carry the team a few nights. Miller will have to carry them the rest (most) of the the nights and they need someone to go "John Druce" and pick up the offense.

Meh. I need more coffee.
