Not even if you financed the entire team budget for the next 15 years, gave up the souls of the next 20 generations of Habs fans, the title to the Bell Center, everyone on your roster, AND all the poutien and fois gras in Montreal. There are three players on the Predators you won't get even if you tried to pry them from our cold dead hands; Shea Weber, Ryan Suter, Blake Geoffrion.

Thank you Sabretip. You just made my day.

"My name is Peklund
I am really just a fraud. I once listened to a hockey game on the radio as a kid while my mom threw tennis balls at my head. This made me an expert on NHL rumours. So now I pull them from my ass on a daily basis. Will you give me all your money?"

Look at their contracts and you might want to change your mind.

Preds want Francois Beauchemin. Leafs want a forward. Burke will try for Hornqvist or Radulov. I doubt he gets either unless he gives up Gunnarsson or Schenn as well, likely Gunnar.

Let's be serious now... burke would get crucifiied if he traded Schenn or Gunnarsson for Radulov.

Some informative details about Eklund:

For every 1 rumor Eklund gets correct, he gets approximately 30 incorrect (457 wrong, 15 right for 3.1%)

Heh,

The only thing I can think of is Cal O'Reilly for Patrick Lalime.

Let's be honest, the longer this is dragged out with Kovalchuk and the Devils, it gives a team like Nashville time to throw something big at him.

I could see two things:

1. Lou L getting frustrated and kind of walking away because they wouldn't allow him to get his way.

2. Nashville throwing a huge 1 year offer at him.

Just my opinion....

That was actually the first thing to come to mind, because it's actually happening.

That being said...I'm giving Eklund more credit (maybe I shouldn't...) then that.

Kostitsyn is better, younger, bigger and cheaper, so why is Erat worth WAY more than him?

Nashville wasn't Dumont's issue last season, I can promise you that.

Probably rather have Radulov...not only either of them...perhaps even both

of course on condition he leaves the KHL

Hornqvist is our leading scorer, and Radulov will still be on his ELC when he returns to Nashville.

Underwood moving to Nashville is making Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics logon to tickemaster.

I don't think that it makes sense to speculate that it's a trade. If it were a trade, he wouldn't have any problem mentioning that. He says "team X may be working on a trade with a X division team" frequently. The fact that he can't use his usual terminology and calls it "news out of Nashville" is what's intriguing.

At first, I couldn't think of what that could be, but the OP's speculation of an offer sheet makes sense. That could be considered "news" because it's a business dealing between one team and a player--it's not a trade between two teams--yet would still have big ramifications for another team. I'd be surprised if Poile did that, though.

Of course, it could also be something a little less sensational like poaching a management or coaching figure. The Predators have been in hiring mode these past few weeks and bringing in people from outside Nashville.

Now that I think about it, it might simply be a big extension for a player. Weber is an RFA next Summer, so could be extended at any time. He was just named captain, so they're committed to him for the long term and will want to get the extension done sooner rather than later. If he were to get a crazy-big extension, that might complicate things for a NE team that is looking to work out an extension with one of their players, maybe Markov with Montreal, Chara with Boston or even a forward of roughly Weber's age and experience. Who knows.
