One thing that bugs me is the 2 intros that Neilsen and Chase have when coming back from commericals. They are a clip of a Cunningham grand slam and another clip from the NBA finals. Can they not get some different clips? I could be the only one that is annoyed by this but just had to vent lol.
I still like that better than when I turn on Oilers Lunch and they're talking about the Capitals.
It's August 18th, I can understand why it's difficult to fill 2 hours every day.
I don't mind Ken Reid, but can appreciate why some wouldn't.
I can also appreciate that it's difficult to fill a two-hour time slot everyday when we're in the doldrums of summer and there's little hockey news to report. For what it's worth I would just as soon see them take the ESPN or Fox Sports feeds (And I hate Fox Sports with a passion) and give Stauffer from mid-July to end of August off. All he's doing is putting Jason Gregor in a horrible position come 3:00 when his sports show is on. He could talk about the Eskimos but Bob's talked about it; maybe some big news in baseball with a no-hitter or those plucky Blue Jays who squeezed out another win but Bob's covered that too. NFL training camps; don't worry Jason, find something else fresh to talk about.
JG's show ends up being a rehash of Oilers Lunch.
The thing that irked me was when he spent a good part of his Thursday and Friday shows going into the NFL Draft last April. Love football, looking to go to a game this fall and am in some leagues but why is he covering it on Oilers Lunch? We were knee deep into the playoffs and lots of Oilers news coming out of the woodwork - stick to the subject of your sports show! If you need to comment ask one of the other hosts if you can call in and discuss the topic. Make the other shows stronger and stop poaching their topics away.
I felt that way with Tychywski or whatever his name is yesterday. The guy didn't know how to talk into the mic.
I sure appreciate Bob putting up the podcasts of The Oilers Lunch since I can never listen to the show live . One small bit of criticism about volume levels . Bob's voice is always waaay louder than the guest voices . I turn up the volume to hear the guest comments and then Bob's voice comes booming through the speakers waking up neighbors for two blocks around . Its a professional radio station . It should be easy to make sure every voice is heard at the same volume .
Enjoy listening to the show for sure and thanks again for the podcasts .
Today's guest host on Gregor's show was Gene Principe. His asinine comments the first hour about Eskimo fans and Danny Maciocia had me wishing he couldn't be heard just like Rob Tychkowski on Tuesday.

It's usually so tough to make out what he's saying, what with his constant punnery and all.
If nothing else it nicely illustrates why everyone's in the field they are. The newspaper guys are intelligent but have super dull delivery (Spector excepted, and Brownlee's made huge improvements since he started). Gregor probably goes on vacation just so we're all so grateful and think he sounds awesome when he comes back.
At least Tychkowski has some credibility. Gene has none.
On Wednesday Principe would've been better off saying that he couldn't comment on the Eskimos because he doesn't any attention to them. Instead, incorrectly assuming that the listeners are all CFL ignoramouses like him, every statement he made about the Eskimo situation in general and the Maciocia firing in particular was more stupid than the last. He pulled things out at the end of the show however by asking a Denver radio guy where he got his deep voice. The worst part of all? Gene will be hosting again on Thursday afternoon...

I seem to recall that last week, Gene was the CFL insider as part of the Neilsen and Chase show and I was thinking WTF??? I guess anyone can be called a "CFL insider" on that show
I turned on the team 1260 about 20 minutes ago and Jim Rome has been doing NOTHING but playing some sound bites of people screaming "YEAH" repeatedly... What the ****? I could do better radio then this... So ridiculous

Yeah the Jim Rome show is not for the uninitiated. It doesn't really make any sense and isn't at all funny until you 'get used to it'. I wasn't a fan at al until I had nothing else to listen to at that time for months, and now I find it hilarious for what it's worth
a) 45 min of freakin hard trivia where the answer is buried deep online somewhere.
b) 2 hours of 80's sitcom discussion.
c) 3 hours of call in and name the best "sports movie" of all time.
d) 45 min of "replay the interview from the Jim Rome show aired yesterday".
Such are the dog days of summer. If Tambo listened to 1260 from 1 till 6 he would surely get on the phone and make a deal just to get something fresh on the air.
Edit: "No, he wouldn't. And don't call him Shirley."

Jim Rome himself said he wasn't a fan of the show when he first heard it. You have to give it two weeks.

Yah, I like to listen to sports night at work, but since things slowed down in July it has become tough to listen to them spend about 2 1/2 of the three hour show replaying interviews from earlier in the day that I have already heard. I often hope that they will talk about movies or something instead of playing tape of something I've already heard 2 or 3 times already. Hockey season can't start soon enough

Jime Rome = multi millionaire, top 3 radio show and TV show in North America
You = anonymous internet critic tapping on a keyboard
I couldn't listen to this regularly, but a couple days of the Gene Principe trainwreck show is pretty entertaining to listen to. Principe clearly won't be getting his own radio show anytime soon

Sure you can do better buddy
Oh baby, the 'Nickleback' argument! I don't listen to either shows nor do I have anything really insightful that I can share, but I just love the good ol' 'Nickleback' retort.
For those who don't know:
Person 1: Nickleback sucks
Person 2: If they suck then why do they sell out all of their shows and they are millionaires!
He replayed that "quad yeah" clip like 25 times in a row. It was riveting
I never said that he was riveting or a genius, it just seems that a large majority of the radio listening public likes him becasue they see the humour behind sarcastic things like this.
Not liking him is fair but throwing out grand ideas like "I can do better" without any factual proof is a bit overboard, that's like me coming out hear and calling out a fourth line nhl or ahl plugger saying " I can play hockey better" whereas the facts would show that the 4th line plugger is making 100-500k to play hockey and I am not.
Never said Jim Rome was great, just though your statement was kind of over the top
