Burke should give him a call, he's first-line material for the Leafs now.

Wellwood was great for the Canucks. So was Raycroft.

I think this makes up a little bit for the lack of draft picks this year. It adds another legitimate prospect to the system and that's never a bad thing.

This is eerily similar to the Capuano brothers.

To me it's the same thing as when some kid gets drafted in the 6'th round. People have no clue as to who the kid is but they get excited because it's new blood. One paragraph and some stats does it for some people.
And you would be wrong, there were several people that I talked to and read about who knew who he was without looking anything up. In fact a close friend of mine described Lee to me as the brother of that guy who played on the under 18 US team with the major wheels and proceed to tell me a fair amount (startling to me really) about the guy.

I think you might be very surprised at the depth of knowledge of some people in a very general way.

I don't follow hockey like that (never did), boxing was always my thing but if you had someone on Bill Sweatts level as a prospect in boxing during the 80's or 90's I would probably have been able to discuss him in some detail without looking anything up and if you remember that period getting such information was a much more difficult prospect.

Wow, at first I thought that was a joke, but size aside it is kind of similar.

Dave was a 2nd rounder who had rounded into a decent forward prospect, and his brother Jack was kind of an 'off the radar' d-man who made it. Both Americans too.

I hope this works out much better.

I guess the big difference is Bill has elite level wheels, and that was a major shortcoming of Dave's.

Not every day the Capuano's come up in hockey talk circles!

I found some Colorado College game highlights on colorogerwf's youtube channel. I made a quick video of Bill Sweat highlights. He definitely has wheels.

How does this conspiracy theory sound. since burke/maclean were tampering witht he sedins, gillis let sweatt know, possibly through his bro that theres a contract for him if he doesnt sign with leafs.

Anyway, I'm sure the Leafs are thrilled with Mike Zigomanis' upside instead of Sweatt.
What kind of weak ass comeback is that? Ziggy isn't even slated to play with the Leafs. He's a signing for the Marlies. Should I go look at the Mooses roster, and pick out some aging forward, with no chance of making the big club, and say that's an indication of your **** prospect pool?

You need to put a little more thought into this next time.

The party line from the Leafs was that after signing Mueller, there was no contract slot for Sweatt. Zigomanis and Crabb were signed shortly after Mueller, so, yes, there were contract slots.

Also, Jeff Tambellini, at age 26, is probably the closest thing to an "aging forward with no chance of making the big club" that the Canucks have under contract. Maybe Joel Perrault at 27. But you're welcome to look for one, if you'd really like to.

He remind me of Raymond as both are tremendously speedy but do not have as nice of hands as others and are perimeter players (atleast Raymond was) I see him even on the 4th line for a bit to learn how to go to the net hard and play the hard along the boards. That certainly worked for Raymond quite well.

Because Bill Sweatt should be happy getting a contract period. He will be a 4th Liner at best. These type of players shouldnt be saying "More money", ect

Just would have liked something in return like BWC said. Oh well. BTW He wouldnt be in the top 16 or so in our prospect pool.

Who is going to give up anything of value for a prospect who projects to be a poor man's version of a crappy fourth liner?

There's no aging forwards on the Moose... except maybe Perreault at 27... There's Rosa... but he's on only an AHL contract. Even on D the only vet really is Baumgartner.

Nope...

Just noticed too that this gives us 49/50 spots signed:

Technically we have 3 spots left with SR's on Tochkin and Andersson.

0:53 and 2:00 in that video really shows Sweatt's speed. It seems like the opposition are going in slow motion when trying to chase him. Its going to be exciting to watch him on the Moose and potentially for the Canucks.

He looks like another "smart" pick up by Gillis. [Terrible pun, I know.]

Slide Risks are 18/19 year olds who are not playing pro... in North America. Not sure why Rodin isn't one also...

Probably because Rodin turns 20 this year?
Not sure on the exact deadline for that, but Andersson is '91 and Rodin is '90.
