If Ramo had a goals against average of 0.00 and a save percentage of 1.00, make no mistake about it - Price will be the Habs #1 goalie - no matter how good or bad he plays!

It's not "the truth", it's the delusion you created to justify continuously whining.
Even if Price puts it on overdrive this year and Ramo doesn't figure to play enough in Montreal to sign here, he's still a pretty good bargaining chip if he can put it together again this year in the KHL. A lot of teams are looking into tandems rather than a number 1, so getting a young option in nets to go along with whoever they have is a pretty appealing option for some teams.
Ramo WILL be back. He wants to be a starter in the NHL. The road lies through montreal till 2014. No one will make him a starter unless he proves himself as a backup. He will be back to prove himself...he doesn't have a choice. Yes, he could just stay in russia, but he's finnish, not russian, it's not his home either. If he's gotta relocate, might as well live the dream and go to the NHL right?
I guess, for me, it's because I don't expect him to actually "compete" with Price for the number one spot a year from now (combination of factors... all previously discussed at length in one place or another), and fully expect that after one year with Montreal we'll be shopping him around so he can "get his chance at #1 somewhere"... or however they'll portray it. If anyone wants a "book it" statement, here it comes: a year from now (despite what some may have inferred from my criticisms of Price so far) I expect that Ramo won't be able to hold a torch to Price, and has NO chance of taking the #1 from him - book it.
And in the end, someone who could have turned out to be a dependable, and most importantly loyal (possibly for a good number of years), will have been moved for one year of Ramo, and the Habs will be looking to fill that #2 spot yet again... with only Mayer, Simila, and whoever (none of whom will be ready) in the organization to choose from. It's only the backup spot though, so who cares, right?
For all intents and purposes the same comments you make about Ramo can be said about Desjardins, i don't think he will be able to hold a torch to Price either(he still has not been a full time #1 in the AHL), the difference being, we only had 1 more year of Desjardins but we got Ramo till 2014, big difference. And to top it off we don't have to pay him this season either. You already know that neither of these guys is/was going to get playing time in the Bell Center unless it is crazy circumstances, like all three of Price, Auld and Sanford are hurt at the same time. If Ramo comes over and start the 11-12 season and is ok to good in the back up role we keep him if he is really good we have a trade chip and Mayer could be ready to challenge by the 12-13 season. If all these things fail, we can buy a guy on the FA market.

You're both right, of course, for the most part (except the requesting a trade part, since he seems pretty disappointed with the whole deal), and I've already said as much. I just don't understand "why" the move makes that much sense from our end, and I'm totally content to leave it at that... for the most part. I am somewhat confrontational, so I don't rule out the possibility of future replies.
I'm also fairly drunk and stoned right now, so I'm letting you off easy.

Hey, my guess is that he's actually trilingual: English Swedish and Russian. Forget French.
Totally off-topic but I doubt Ramo speaks Swedish. Finnish and Swedish has close to nothing in common and he seems to be from a part of Finland that is unilingual.
On-topic I have the feeling we have a "sleeper" on our hands!
With his countryman Niemi still unsigned, he MUST realize he will have to work for an NHL spot, and has no place demanding, well, close to anything.
Give him 1-2 years of hard work, adapting and refining his game and I think he will be a damn good goalie, the raw talent is there, as far as I am concerned.
If goaltending coaches in Montreal can control his crease aggression and angle play, while helping him to better control his rebounds, he has all the tools to be an above average goaltender in the NHL, possibly more.

Okay, decided to "properly" reply to this particular bit separate from the rest. If you took this exact argument, and applied it to Ramo, you could say the following:
"Sure, Ramo seems to have done decently in the KHL, but Jeff Glass (same age as Ramo), Martin Gerber (way past prime), and Robert Esche (past prime) all did even better, and we've seen them either in the AHL or NHL before going to the KHL. And just before going to the KHL, they were all mediocre to say the least."

His crease aggression would be somewhat ok with guys like Gill and Gorges who like to jump behind the goalie and then become the goalie.
