Alright everyone, didn't want to bump up the old thread, which is three pages behind so I created a new one. What is everyone's predictions for the Rangers this upcoming season? Give me your honest predictions for player stats, where we finish in the East, playoff exit round if appliable, and a few crazy predictions that can apply to anything Ranger related.

Somewhere in there there are going to be 10~15 goals lost. But we will upgrade on offense for sure. Those are realistic totals, IMO.

total goals - 219...Gabby is going to miss some games. Frolov will tease ala Zherdev. Cally and Dubi playing for contracts. Anisimov will be bounced around. Prospal will do what he normally does after an up year and still has his Tampa F U money. Staal already has his contract at this point. Rosy gearing up to play for another contract. Drury will have a semi-bounce back year and then follow it up with a pretty decent year in his contract year. MZA will bounce between Hartford and NYC. Gilroy will be a scratch at the mid-point of the season and wouldn't be surprised if he's in Hartford for a period of time. Avery will be bounced around,but will go on a run stats-wise towards the end of the season scoring the bulk of his goals against division rivals. MDZ will be one of the bright-spots of the year as he continues to develop. Prust will be fighting to be in the line-up, but will find himself in the press box on most nights due to glut of forwards despite playing good hockey. Christensen, will be Christensen...one big tease. McDonagh will be called up from Hartford once Gilroy starts to falter.

Why so low on Gaborik? 64 points? Unless you are assuming he will be injured. I think he plays 80 games and gets AT LEAST 85 points IMO

As for general predictions, I'm going to rattle these off in no particular order, rhyme or reason:
-Lundqvist finishes top 5 in every goalie stat except wins, gets a Vezina nomination, but once again gets snubbed
-MZA is in Hartford by Christmas, gets a few injury call up games thereafter
-Gaborik gets injured in a mid-February game, misses most games from then until mid-late March as the team is fighting for a playoff spot
-Tortorella gets suspended at least one game rather early in the season after sending Boogaard onto the ice after someone on the other team runs Hank
-Boogaard pummels said person, whether in a fight or with a huge hit, becoming an instant Garden folk hero and fan favorite
-Rangers fans on this board lament the loss of Sanguinetti after he puts up 40 points in his rookie season with Carolina
-McDonagh makes the team out of camp, has a very steady rookie season on the bottom pairing with some PK time
-Rangers fans will come to celebrate a certain day late in September for years to come as "Wade Redden Emancipation Day" after he gets demoted to the AHL
-Todd White does not play a single game for the Rangers
-Biron gets lit up like a Christmas tree in his first start, Chad Johnson is called up by November
-Injuries at one point in the season force Tortorella to ice a 1st line of Prospal-Christensen-MZA
-Tortorella and Brooks almost come to blows until Andrew Gross accidentally one-punch KO's Brooks in an attempt to break up the scuffle
-The Rangers lose the meeting with Calgary on November 22, 2010 at the Garden 3-2 thanks to an OT winner by you guessed it, Olli Jokinen
-Even though the Rangers are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs by the April 3rd game against Philly, Glen Sather says "We're still in it" via a conference call

stats are based on Gabby missing games. its inevitable that's its going to happen. I'd be more than pleased to eat crow if he manages to suit up for 75 games. But i seriously doubt that will happen.

Do you really think they'll score LESS than last season?
The addition of Frolov, full seasons of Prust, Christensen, and hopeful and likely rebound seasons for Drury and Avery, plus all the young studs a year older is going to amount to an overall more disappointing offense than last years? I highly doubt that.
Edit: Also, the team was really starting to gel the last 15 games of the season. Things were starting to happen. So long as Gaborik and Henke play without injury, our team is competing. And yes, there is a difference because even though our team always has a nice opening to the season and especially a nice closing playoff push, there is virtually the same roster as last year's playoff push then to now. That, recently, is a difference for this team. There are usually complete summer overhauls the past few years but now these guys are going to get to continue gelling with each other.

Henry is going to have his best year yet! with his best backup yet (even though thats not saying much) he'll have more rest and be able to give 110% to every game. Plus, he's probably VERY mad about missing the playoffs after a shootout because he probably blames himself. Do I dare say a vezina trophy?

People on these boards grossly underestimate just how difficult it is to get to the 250 mark. 250 goals last season would have been 5th in the league. One more than the Penguins scored. We won't even come remotely close to that.
Adding 10-15 goals would be huge. I'd say, if Gaborik doesn't get hurt, we could go from 219 to around 230.

Grachev impresses at camp, has a great start to the season in HFD, gets called up and scores his first NHL goal against the Islanders in early December.

- Gaborik has a season similar to last year.
- Frolov goes 30-30-30.
- Dubinsky scores 20-30-50.
- Prospal has a down year.
- Todd White plays at the NHL level for at least some period of time.
- Del Zotto's offensive #'s pick up as he becomes more comfortable at the point and rushing the puck.
- Tortarella starts to give Staal consistent power play time (I hope so at least).
- Riley Cote retired in fear of Derek Boogaard.
- Sean Avery has a rebound season and shows that fire that we've missed from him.
- Stepan, Grachev, and McDonagh all see time with the team, McDonagh earning a full-time spot possibly out of camp, if not early on in the season.
- McIlrath impresses in Hartford after his junior season ends.
