Thats a pretty stacked team, I wish Gauthier would trade for Oscar Moeller, I've always liked him and a little time in Hamilton would be great for his development with all that talent

I wrote a small article on what the team might look like,

http://www.habprospects.com/modules....rticle&sid=146

Since we don't know if PG is done or who will make the Habs, but I'm guessing that if Eller joins Subban and Pyatt as full timers, that should leave one or two open spots among the forwards (unless Markov can't go in Oct and they carry 8 D) So one or two of Pacioretty, Engqvist, White, Desharnais, Maxwell, Avtsin, etc... could be with the Habs. Could look something like this, (minus at least one)

Pacioretty Desharnais Avtsin
White Maxwell Palushaj
Russell Engqvist Dumont
Conboy Fortier Schultz/Bishop

Bonneau/Masse

St-Denis-Carle
Henry-Weber
Nash-Klubertanz
Urquhart

Sanford
Mayer

Great write up man, for the prospects did you ever think about putting like a rating system? Something like that? Would be fun to read your take

It's my thought that due to waiver situations, it will most likely be Carle who stays with the Habs for the whole year and not Weber.
I could be wrong though...

I haven't really but it's something to think about going forward.

I think Carle would clear waivers, but depending on how things shake up, there's also Picard, who I left off but could easily be in Hamilton with Carle if Markov is good to go and PG keeps his top 7 intact. If Markov is healthy in October, then there's no room for Carle or Picard on the Habs, and you want Picard as your 7th D unless Carle is just lights out as Carle only played in 31 games for the Dogs last year, so you want him to get as many games in since he's missed an entire seasons worth of games in his 3 years as a pro. So you don't want Carle on the bench in the NHL unless it's for a injury callup. Picard can sit in the press box and it won't hurt his game. Carle can go to Hamilton and fight Weber and Klubertanz for ice time.

But then again a lot can happen between the last week of August till the first week of October, so we'll have to see.

Thanks for the post and article.

If you or some of the Q specialists have 2 minutes, I would like to know why the young Dumont is ahead of Masse? Is it simply a question of position?

It's tough to say where Dumont fits in this lineup, especially if the top 6 is made up of Pac/Desharnais/Avtsin/White/Maxwell/Palushaj as Russell and Wyman both should be on the 3rd line as they are fast and good in their own end, likely 2 of our PKers as well.

Masse I'm guessing will be fighting with Fortier for ice time on the 4th line I'm guessing. Again though it's early so who's to say what if any more changes are made, as we still got a couple weeks till camp opens. For Masse, he works hard and seems smart but his skating/foot speed could be a problem, Fortier is much quicker so it might give him the inside track. But perhaps they could rotate all year unless they opt to loan one of them to an ECHL team as you want to see them get ice time after missing so much time last year.

Should be some interesting choices at camp.

He does have a good frame, hopefully he can put the injuries behind him now, he's missed so much time. Could be huge if we get some of these guys to get back on track like Carle, Pacioretty, Weber and Maxwell.

Bonneau as in Jimmy Bonneau or some other dude named Bonneau? Where did he come from? I thought he was long gone.

Yes, the Jimmy Bonneau that we drafted and played for 3 years in our farm system. He's was signed to an AHL contract by Hamilton for 2010-11.

I know they're not, but it's kinda odd that the smallest Dogs players are all from Quebec!

It seems like we don't need an ECHL affiliate for now. There seems to be room for all of our prospects (AHL ready) in Hamilton's lineup. (I could see Schultz being returned to the WHL, if he doesn't have enough playing time.)

Personnally, I would see a need for an ECHL team or at least sending a couple of guys in that league anyway. 'Cause I'd love to see what Massé can do on a regular basis. To me, he has no room whatsoever with the Dogs. If they signed Bonneau, it was to use him for the Dogs but probably as the 13th forward. Yet, I'd like to see Schultz playing pro this year. So it makes Conboy or Fortier (I don't see Bishop or Dumont as ECHL material) as another ECHL player that would end up playing regularly. Unless they really want to use 7 d-men in that squad, it also would leave 1 d-man for the ECHL and that battle would be between Nash and Urquhart.

But most importantly, if we base ourselves on the lineup Montreal provided as an example....if White is in our Habs lineup, it clears one spot. But then, I really don't understand why we didn't try to get at least 1 vet in this lineup. I really believe we'll miss 1 Glumac or 1 Darche. A proven AHL vet that might never be NHL material but will be there to accompany this young group of guys. I'm really perplexed by it. Not sure I'm entirely thrilled by not having 1 more vet on D as well.

So my greatest of scenario would have been to have a ECHL team for the following players:

Fortier
Massé
Urquhart
Nash

But in my scenario, White is a Habs, and the Dogs add 1 vet forward (BRIAN WILLSIE, DARREN HAYDAR), 1 vet d-man (BRENDAN BELL, or let's get old draft pick MARK FLOOD)
