Fedotenko was the worst defensive forward the Pens had last year. There were 3-4 games where he blew defensive assignments late in the game/OT that cost them games.

The guy was solid the year before and was a bum last year.

LOL @ signing Guerin. He looked like he was gliding around in a beer league last year. The only way I could see Guerin being serviceable to a team is if he signed around mid-season and he started skating hard again.

You guys should take Nolan. Judging on what Holmgren has done this offseason, you'll take one of the two bums.

Not really, Fedotenko averages 75-76 a season. Not bad. Sure, he does not bring anything on PP but we do not really need him to play on PP.

I'd take Feds on two way contract but he probably won't sign two way contract.

I'd take Guerin for a 3rd line role.

JVR-Carter-Briere
Hartnell-Richards-Zherdev
Leino-Giroux-Guerin
Carcillo-Betts-Lappy
Powe/Shelley

That works for me.

I see them trading Carcillo if they sign Guerin though.

Why is anyone at this point considering Guerin or fedo. Both are terribly terribly past their due date.

Seriously, both were good in their day, but look how thye perfor now wwit the Pens// a team where they get a chance to play with the world's best centers. AND they only have to compete with the likes of Kunitz and Talbot for the opportunity to play there...

Fedo doesnt make it off their third line, and Guerin is only with Crosby cuz he and Kunitz are the best they have... a sad indictment of Pitts wingers.

Fedotenko never played on the 3rd line. He played on the 2nd with Malkin and was attrocious. I think thats half the reason malkins numbers were low because having fedotenko on the line was an automatic turnover.

Eklund says the Kings like Carcillo. IDK what the possible return would be, but I would take prospects or picks, sure.

You'd put a bullet to your head with that kind of lineup?

Get a goalie.

Replace Boucher with Theodore or something (for the same $).

that really is a simple thing to do unless Theo wont settle for a 1 year 800k deal. Then again the GM doesnt think they have a need for a goalie.

All things being equal I'd rather have Nolan, I don't know why but I thought he was going to retire.

Guerin could chip in a limited role, if the price is like 600K I say why not? Use him as a fourth liner and PP specialist

not sure if anybody has brought this up but what are your thoughts about Cheechoo? He's struggled in his years with Ottawa but might be able to produce I given a fresh start and put on a line with a playmaker like Giroux, similarly to when Thorton set him up in SJ....assuming if we can get him for cheap would you rather see him than Guerin or Nolan, he's younger and has a better upside IMO

Kariya would be interesting. He could provide some scoring on the third line and maybe on the powerplay. Maybe we could offer him a cheap one year "come try and get that elusive ring" type deal. He probably wants to go to the Ducks so I don't really want to be in a bidding war for an older player like that. Hence why I would prefer Nolan. Offer him the same "Come win a cup" type deal. Another solid veteran presence would really help this club along.

As an invite to camp absolutely. Let him earn his contract.

Cheechoo is pretty much a grinder at this point in his career. No need for him.

he won't sign a two-way deal, you're right, and what does he offer the flyers? last year he had a whopping 11 goals in essentially a full season in which he had every opportunity to get a ton of time with arguably the two best centers in the NHL.

and the injuries are not just missing games, they are about mixed form and overall decline. concussion problems, underperforming ... what's enticing about him exactly? gutsy player, even though he boned us big time i loved his playoff run in 04, he was as valuable as any of the big names on TB, but right today, nah, pass.

Would be par for the flyers course to sign a former great player many years after their prime.
