That being said, I HIGHLY doubt it would/will happen so it's a moot point. If the offer was made by another team, how can PG NOT listen and act on it? But if we shipped A. Kosty and Price, we should have close to enough for the following line up. With Hamr and Gill coming off the books next year, we'd also have enough cash (roughly $8M) to sign the UFA's and RFA's we'd like to keep as well.

Cammy- Gomez - Gio
Eller - Plex - Perry
Pouliot - Lapierre - Moen
Darch - Boyd - Pyatt

Markov-Subban
Hamr-Spacek
Gill-Gorges
OB

Niemi @ $2M so we'd have to clear a bit more space for this to work as I doubt we get him at $2M.

Auld

Not likely, but damn, that's one solid looking line up!
The price to pay for Corey Perry would likely be something like PK Subban + Carey Price. We're talking an established young player with grit, skill and size who already has 2 70+ point seasons under his belt and 3 25+ goal seasons. Not to mention he is a Stanley Cup winner and an Olympic Gold Medalist.

Anaheim don't need a goalie, and I highly doubt they would consider trading Perry.

Subban aint going anywhere, and Perry is overated....and overpaid.

If Price were to be dealt (thats a big IF) then Bobby Ryan would be the player they would be targeting in Anaheim.

Price is not needed in Anaheim.

I highly doubt it too which is what I said. You can never have enough goaltending depth and Price would come cheap and open more cap space to sign Ryan. It's not outside the boundary of possibility.

Price won't get traded and if he would, no team would give a top 3 forward for him. I doubt we'd even get a 1st tier top 6 forward.

Exactly. You have to think that if we're considering trading Price and signing Niemi, then why would another team trade for Price instead of just signing Niemi while he's still out there ?

Would ANY team consider themselves better by losing a top 3 forward and getting Price then by just keeping that forward and getting Niemi?

To me, that's another Ek rumour that doesn't make sense.

this is sad, price is going no where,

why not support the goalie of the future, instead of running him out

eck's are rumors, and has not lifeline to them, yet

This 1000000000 over.
I believe in this kid and he has shown to me some great signs of being a top notch goalie.

Price has a lot more upside than Niemi. I'm sure the Habs are using the fact that Niemi is a uFA as leverage, but deep down they want Price signed for 3-5 years and to see him develop into a top 5 goalie.

Good point! Honestly guys, we don't want Niemi, he's not half the talent Price is.......everyone seems to forget that Price just turned 23 last week....He has more wins at the age of 22 than guys like Luongo,Brodeur,Miller and Fleury.......he is our # 1 guy!

I agree, I prefer Price as well and I'm all for keeping him. But is the difference between him and Niemi worth a top 3 forward?

I guess that's debatable. Anyway with the goalie market we've witnessed this summer and guys like Niemi and Theodore still available, I don't believe any team would trade a first line player for Price.

This isn't about being a Price supporter or not. It's about what's best for the team. Even though I think the world of Price and believe he'll be a star doesn't mean unwound never trade him either if it made the team better. Once you get into abstract conversations of the future, its impossible to who's right or wrong. What I will say is that there is no player I wouldn't trade on our roster for a better player from another team as long as it makes us better.
So don't get all taken a back over people not supporting Price blah blah blah. If we could get a better player back I doubt anyone would complain much, well some people would complain reguadless.

WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE:

Today I spent an hour chasing a rumor that the Canadiens may have approached Stempniak as well...no denials, which is very interesting in this particular case.

So if I understand correctly, because Montreal has a policy of not discussing rumours (with Eklund or anyone else) and that they don't confirm (or deny), it becomes true?
