Training Camp Tryouts - who would you like to see?

Because I'm bored and the other threads don't have a lot of life in them. Plus it's my 1,000 post so I'll celebrate by starting a new thread.

Who would you like to see as a training camp tryout and why? Who could they displace?

No matter how full the roster is we seem to get one or 2 guys every year so who might it be this year?

I'll be curious who is still available (I imagine some of the guys currently floating around will sign deals just before camp when things get really desperate). Meltzer has offered Wayne Primeau as someone to consider, and that doesn't strike me as a terrible idea in the event Betts is going to miss some time.

At the end of the day... we have a full roster, though. It isn't like last year where we had an obvious need for someone like Betts.

I'd like to see Nodl and Marshall make serious pushes to stay with the big club. It's a pipe dream for Marshall or any other defenseman to crack the lineup given the glut of established NHLers, but I'd particularly like to see Nodl build on his playoff ice time and become an adept 2-way top-9 forward.

Meh. I think it is safe to say that unless a trade is made, the roster is pretty much set. I can't see anyone bumping one the current players from a roster spot.

Maybe Jonh Leclaire to see if he has anythign left. Heard he has been working out and would like an invite. Competition is good and regardless if the roster is so called set it doesnt hurt to invite a few people. Turn over every rock.

Cheechoo is someone that couldnt hurt. While i doubt he wants to play in ahl, Mcgratton for the phantoms would be good to protect some of those young guys.

It always good to invite try outs to camp, it ensures that everyone works hard, because there is always someone to take your place for cheaper.

Is that true? LeClair was (is) my favorite player. I would **** if he got an invite and made the team. Although I really don't see any space for anyone. If someone made the team I would assume either Powe or Carcillo would be waived.

People are confusing "try-outs" (Betts, Berard, etc.) with young players who are in the organization. I'm assuming the OP meant the original.

Obviously it will be good to see how some of the young guys do in camp.

No one. We have a full roster. There's not even room for the young guys in the farm system that we know are NHL ready (Nodl, Kalinski, etc.) let alone some random try-outs.

I'd throw try-out contracts to Fedotenko, Ortmeyer, Artyukhin, Park, Nolan, Modin, Dawes and Torres hoping one would accept(doubtful) and hope that we could work out a way to get a 3rd line RW that deserves to be in the top 9.

I'd be cool with anyone from that group but I'm sure none would accept. Of course I couldn't believe Betts came here without a contract last year. We all know what happened with that.

And yes, to clarify I meant guys coming into camp without a contract, not guys hoping to crack the Flyers who are already signed.

I know it seems unlikely given the huge roster but like I said, I'm bored. Plus you never know. I didn't think that Asham would be the 13th forward the first part of last year and he was until the injury bug hit.

I wish Carcillo had Artyukhin's size and speed. I woudl like Torres tough. I am surprised he hasn't signed yet.

Shooter loves to give second chances to players. What about Mike Danton?

Hahaha! Arthyukin, really?

I don't want him to destroy half of the roster's knees. That dirty ****er should be shot to the sun.

Torres also adds a scoring touch, that Powe doesn't seem to have, or at least not yet - he has great speed and is a PK'er. Interesting...
