Hmm...
Stats don't tell the whole story, I hope, but if he is the PKing, hitting machine we need, he'll have to do better then that on this team.

Torres hasn't been on a penalty kill in at least three years (the stats site I use only goes back three years) I'm cautiously optimistic about this but I'm feeling Torres might not have been the best choice. Torres will be good secondary scoring however taking up the slack left by the departures of Wellwood and Demitra.

Isn't this signing about 5 years too late?

He doesn't kill penalties but he does play tough defensive minutes...

He didn't work in Buffalo, but for what we need him for it works well.

Just bring some work effort, crash, bang, and chip in a goal or two and I'm sold.

He's making $1 million instead of the $2.25 he was making last year. That's also half of what Bernier was making last year. If he can replace Bernier's production, that would be a good bargain.

Plus you have to think he'll have some extra motivation to prove himself to other teams for a better deal.

$1M for 1 year is a steal. Worst case scenario IMO is he fills Bernier's role last year for half the price.

Also, LOL at all the fans of other teams chiming in that the Canucks can no longer afford Mitchell after this signing.

Love this signing...Torres will provide good grit and some decent two-way talent in the bottom six.

Also, props to DinoD...well called.

I love this signing!

good size, plays physical, can pop a few goals, and should be extra motivated after a somewhat disappointing season last year.

really solidifies our 3rd line and can move up to play a crash and bang role in the top 6 in a pinch.

another good move in the offseason from heaven Gillis is putting together.

Solid signing. This is great news. I've been hoping for a guy like this since July 1.

Torres - Malhotra - Hansen
looks like a great 3rd line.
If Hodgson plays well I expect Hansen will be on the 4th line (with some PK time), but it definitely gives the Canucks options.

It seems like Shark are the ones saying that and it's because they want Mitchell and know where Willie wants to play, it's not in Cali!

people were worried about bolstering our bottom6 and our D, but really we just needed more "****ing rights!" guys.

Especially with Demitra leaving.

Torres used to be a Canuck killer. I don't know where you could find the stats, but I'm pretty sure he has scored more goals against the Canucks than any other team.

Hopefully it's an omen and he can continue to score when there's Canuck uniforms on the ice.

For the price, I like this signing. He could go either way though.....
