Zherdev Thread

I know it's still August but I am really looking forward to seeing what Zherdev can do for and with the team. Post anything you like about him. What you expect of him. How well you think he will do. How well you think he will get along with the team. His motives. Pictures. And videos:

I think at the very least he should be good for 25/25...enough to make sure we can't afford to keep him.

Ah I, too remember being so enamored with Z's youtube highlights, unfortunately most dangle attempts per night doesn't win hockey games. You guys will love him for the most part during the regular season. he may even occasionally do something out of character and play scrappy for a shift just to try to prove he's not heartless. Unfortunately this is also not the case, and the real Zherdev will come out in the playoffs.

Hopefully this isn't misconstrued as trolling, because I'd be saying the same exact thing if we signed him and this thread was on our board.

In his defense, he's played all of 7 playoff games. Hardly a representative sample.

I think some people are getting themselves too hyped up over him. Or at least expecting too much. There's good reasons why he's never been a PPG and why he was in the KHL.

I'm not saying there isn't a possibility he blossoms with us, he could, but it's not likely. A more realistic expectation seems somewhere around 30 goals and 70 to 75 points and that's in ideal situations (top minutes, PP time, etc.).

I don't think anyone can dispute his talent and I am super psyched to see him put some of that in play in a Flyers jersey. I just hope he is more of a complete and unselfish player than he was in his last time around in the NHL. Is it October yet?

I will love it if Z comes in and scores 30 goals. I don't think that will happen though.

It looks like he has an extremely accurate wrist shot that he puts minimal effort into and finds the wholes. His backhand also gets up there and quick.

I wanna see a Leino, Giroux, and Zherdev line. Just so they can dangle around people for a whole period.

Can we pull the goalie so Briere can go out there, too?

I mean, our defense should be so good the puck won't get to the empty net anyway, and those four could probably keep the puck in the other zone for a week.

Leafs fan coming in peace. I justed wanted to say I think Zherdev is going to be the steal of the offseason especially at his cap hit and age. I really think he'll finally blossom into the legit first line threat we've always thought he would be. I didn't really expect Philly to be after him given your tough, physical style of play but a dangler/sniper like him could be the perfect compliment to your team. Also, I'm jealous that your bottom 6 could be arguably as good as our top 6. Anyways, good luck on the season.

That would be so epic.

Lavy - Right lads, we've got a one goal lead in game 7 of the finals with 19 minutes remaining, Briere, Leino, Zherdev and Roo, i want you to go out there and hold the puck. Prongs, just stand there and look ard!
