all powerful businessmen need to be sociopaths to get there.

behind every fortune there's a crime. (this technique is tech-9 )

You guys are just bitter.
wait...so frauding tax payers is a being a great businessman?

oh my.

anyways, it's like people who hate on wal-mart. they play by the rules, so why hate them? hate the rules and those who write them.

that's where change needs to be made, not amending corporations. amend the damn rules.

I am kidding.

But just your last point there, its hard to do that when the corporations have people making the rules, and they get to pay them to change them or keep them the same.

They can both rot in hell. There aren't many people I hate, but Loria and Samson are definitely on my list. Complete ********.

Loria. I knew we were screwed when our "owner's" job description was "art dealer". How entrepreneurial can you get

The Expos were going no matter who owned them, but that didn't make Loria and his little ***** any less deplorable.

Actually if the Expos were owned by a group (or person) willing to make the cash calls, eventually Loria would have been flushed out.

Loria had no money to speak of, just debt and ownership by title only. It was all smoke and mirrors.

Loria made matters very easy for Selig and quite literally made out like a bandit when the Expos, Marlins, Red Sox flip went down

Interesting that when Steinbrenner bought the yankees from CBS for just under 9 mm dollars in 1972, he did that deal with almost no cash either. Instead of being an art dealer, George was a "ship builder".

Bear in mind that MLB essentially gave the Marlins to Loria to complete the deal.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but ****ing Loria didn't have something, he had EVERYTHING to do with our downfall. It wasn't even a business move. Well, not a baseball business move. Montreal was a crap baseball town, but with a good owner, a field downtown (Uhh hello Turcotte Yard, you decrepit pit of snow and dirt), we could have a hell of a lot of success. We had the best scouts in the league, and with money, we would be a great team. They're part of the reason I hate the Marlins.

I didn't check the first page of the thread, but I hope the word KARMA came around a few times.

I would rather hate people who sacrifice morals and common decency for the almighty dollar and flush human lives down the drain. They know they are abusing an imperfect system and they deserve to rot for it.

Hating people who make laws that end up getting circumnavigated is stupid beyond belief.

Given the NFL's penchant for levying its' own penalties, I wonder if Loria will get fined or suspended from Eagles games this year?

I remember all the empty promises they filled the fans about "Labatt Park" with a beautiful view of the Montreal skyline...(sigh)

The more I look at it, the more Labatt Park looks like the proposed new Colisée in Québec and the current Sprint Centre in Kansas City. I liked the "other" Labatt Park better, the one where they mixed the best stuff from the ballpark in Baltimore and Cleveland. It had more of an historic feel to it.

Those retro parks that were once all the rage are now not so cool anymore. When a team builds a park they need to look way down the road past current fads

Well I ain't no ballpark expert, but from what I have looked at, Target Field in Minneapolis, the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and Nationals Ballpark in Washington seem to be the only modern looking ballparks from the outside with structure made in part of glass ala Labatt Stadium 2000. Petco Park, The New Yankee Stadium, Minute Maid Park (minus the storage for the roof), Citi Field, Comerica Park, Citizen Bank Park, PNC Park, AT&T Park and new Busch Stadium are all old style looking with the arches ala Labatt Stadium 1998. Sad part, is that those stadiums all, or most of them, have been built AFTER Labatt Park 1 or 2 if one of them would have been built.
