That is from a Philly beat writer, who I was just told apparently never said this.

There's also the one that said he spoke to 10 teams that I keep referring to.

You only need to waive your NTC for one team if you already know that's where you're going.
Were those teams ones that couldn't fit him and thus decided not to bid for him?

I forget what writer said it, but apparently Tampa Bay was the only team that could afford/wanted Gagne that Gagne was willing to go to.

And when your GM tells you that there is a trade ready to go for a team you're willing to go to, you only need to waive you NTC for one team, since you're only being traded once.

Good, I was starting to like the Lightning. This should put an end to that.

Still get a kick out of Shooter giving him that contract because of his lazyness and incompetence.

Anyoen that really believes Gagne would only waive it to Tampa needs to give their head a shake or bang it against the wall.

This is funny, but it doesn't fix the broken heart inside my chest left by the rest of the offseason.

So if there were so many teams out there that wanted Gagne's services that Gagne would be willing to play for, then what happened?

Oh wait, is Walker the result of a bidding war on Gagne?

We must've done something right to snag him.

I swear to god, some of you leave logic at the door when you sign in.

Maybe just maybe the GM made a smart move and didnt want to deal him to the Pens an dinstead dealt him toTampa. Guess that never occured to you right. Yeah logic. Never said there were many teams either.

So now Holmgren made a good move? Is that you're argument now?

Even so, let's examine this for a second.

You're saying our biggest rival, who doesn't have the money to sign Gagne, was maybe after him, but Holmgren took a significantly lesser return so that Gagne wouldn't end up in Pittsburgh?

Didn't stop us from sending Hamhuis, a potential gamebreaker for Pittsburgh's blueline, over to them.

I didn't even hear Pittsburgh was a possible destination. You aware of something I'm not?

what argument? Your a trip. They did have the money so your wrong on that account. I can tell you the Pens where interested in Gagne. That is what i know. So yes i am aware of things your not.

I am not talking about Hmahuis. Bringing up Hamhuis is irrelevent to this as it is 2 totally different situations.

This is why people don't like you. You're a pretty smart guy, and while we disagree on a couple things I actually value your opinion in most areas, but you make these generalized, condescending statements that make you seem like a dick and tend to weaken whatever argument you're making. Just saying.

To me this is a nothing move. Randy Jones is a short term solution and a serviceable depth D-guy for the right price. I think he will find a place on the bottom pairing and slide up the depth chart if there are injuries. He will need to get significantly better during his time with Tampa if he hopes to fit into their long term plans otherwise he will have a very hard time finding a job in the NHL. Good Luck Randy.

I don't think he'll have that hard a time. I mean, Freddy Meyer keeps finding places to land and Jones is a better defenseman.

It all depends on whether or not he continues to accept bottom-pair minutes and dollars, but there's no reason he can't be a serviceable journeyman depth guy. He really isn't THAT terrible...he just isn't worth even half of what Holmgren gave him, which exacerbated his lack of skill.

I have no problem with Randy and I agree that he isn't "that" terrible. Its just that he seems to have reached his ceiling. He is still young and needs to prove that he can be more than a 3rd pairing guy. He will have that opportunity in Tampa, but he needs to work his ass off and develop good chemistry. I think at some point he will outsource himself from the NHL. Teams would rather bring in a younger, cheaper D to fill the spot than sign Randy. It's only a matter of time.

Did Yzerman lose a bet? next time he gambles, he should just volunteer to drink a bucket of pee. it'd be more productive.

That seems about right. As brain-dead as he is, he is probably worth 1 million.

Too bad. I was getting used to seeing him in my City. He's been living at his brothers house a few houses down from my buddies, also building a house just outside the City. Big Hummer parked outside.

This is good for him personally though, there are murmurs locally about him having some "issues", thus why his brother went personally to L.A to bring him home. I like the guy, I hope injuries are behind him and he plays well.

Randy must be excited. He was looking forward this contract for the last two years.

Yzerman is a genius. He knows by signing Jones, hes gonna get a killer return when he trades him to us at the deadline...

Don't laugh at Yzerman yet. I'm sure Homer is up right now trying to figure out how to trade for Jones.
