TML Rebuild's Fantasy Draft - Final Roster Thread

Post your final rosters in this thread in order for them to be judged.

You can write anything you would like about your squad as well as provide reasoning for the transactions and selections you made throughout the draft and trade session.

I want all of the rosters to be posted by this weekend so the judges can begin.

The judges will address the top 12 teams, counting down from the 12th strongest team all the way to the Stanley Cup winner.

EDIT: Judging will begin after this weekend as I am off to the cottage for the weekend and won't be able to address and monitor the judges. It will commence Sunday or Monday.

GM: Nuckles37

Captain: Rick Nash
Alternate: Adam Foote
Alternate: Vincent Lecavalier

Rick Nash - Vincent Lecavalier - Martin Havlat

Rene Bourque - Tomas Plekanec - Teemu Selanne

Jannik Hansen - Nik Antropov - Miroslav Satan

Sergei Kostitsyn - Stephane Yelle - George Parros
Extra: Rick Rypien

Andrei Markov - Jay Bouwmeester

Marc Staal - Mark Streit

Toni Lydman - Adam Foote
Extra: Andy Sutton

Antti Niemi
Martin Biron

Cap: $64,781,647/$65,000,000

I succeeded in getting what I wanted in good defensive depth with three #1 d-men in Markov, Bouwmeester, and Streit, and future #1 d-man Marc Staal. I also got two very good #3/4 d-men in Lydman and Sutton. And then to top off my top 6 defensemen, I got veteran/playoff experience in Adam Foote.

I also succeeded in getting great depth at center, with Lecavalier, Plekanec, and Nik Antropov.

I was fortunate that many good players fell back in the draft, such as Lecavalier (last pick in the 3rd round), Bouwmeester (late 4th), and Antropov (mid 8th).

I am quite pleased with my forward group.
In my first line, I have three very good forwards in Rick Nash, Vincent Lecavalier, and Martin Havlat. There is a mix of good offensive and defensive ability, as well as size (Nash and Lecavalier are 6'4, Havlat is 6'2) and speed.

The second line has very smooth, fast skaters that are extremely talented. It isn't as tough as I like, but Bourque brings the physical presence for the line.
Selanne brings veteran experience and shooting ability to the line.
Plekanec is a fast skating, playmaking center with a very good defensive skills.

Centering the third line is Nik Antropov, who stands 6'6 tall, and weighs 230 lbs. He brings poise and patience as well as two-way smarts. On his wings are Miroslav Satan, who brings his shooting abilities and verteran experience, and Jannik Hansen, who is a fast two-way forward who gets many scoring chances, but still needs to polish his offensive abilities.

The forth line is a typical 4th line. Stephane Yelle is a defensive forward with veteran and playoff experience. Sergei Kostitsyn brings lots of creativity and shiftiness. Kostitsyn has had attitude problems in the past, but we're hoping that he will do much better while surrounded by veterans. George Parros brings most of the toughness to the line. He is a heavyweight enforcer who knows when to protect his teammates.
The extra forward Rick Rypien is a fast skater who has some flashes of offensive ability. And he is an extremely good fighter for his size.

As for goaltending, let's just say it wasn't my main priority. I have recent stanley cup champ Antti Niemi as the starter and veteran backup Martin Biron (who can fill in the starting role if needed).

Goaltending wasn't a priority of mine because ever since the lockout, every team that has won the cup hasn't had a superstar goalie, but instead had a very good defensive core.

I'm going to disqualify myself. I was on Vacation and never got to adjust my cap to be within limits. Sorry and apologies to all.

The St Louis Blues

GM Groucho Marx
Coach Joel Quinville
Captain Mike Richards
Alternate Jordan Staal
Alternate Brendon Morrow

St louis blues decided to trade their third and fith pick for an aditional second because we felt the players we targeted were better than the players we could get at three and five. We were right. Our Captain was taken first followed by Staal and Kessel. The players selected with our picks at three and five are well below these players in talent.

Second we traded Marcel Goc for Micheal ryder as Buffalo was having cap issues.

Intialy we rafted Dustin brown in the fourth round as trade bait. We wanted to have a top six forward because we had lost out on the premier defensemen. The offers for brown were hedious at irst but we waited and waited and waited. Until the eleventh our. We moved Brown and Ian white for Morrow and Ohlund. Ohlund was the player a nice upgrade for our second D line and Morrow replaces Brown and one could argue an upgrade.

Our lines consist of

Morrow Richards Kessel
Armstrong Staal Kunitz
Kennedy Bolland Cooke
Ryder Kelly Orr

Komisarek Carle
Ohlund Kronwall
Giordano Gill

Quick
Conklin

extras Aucoin
J ward

The first line is easily the most dominate force in the leauge. Morrow is a psycopath that goes head first into the corners forechecks like a madman. Richards is well, Richards. Richards is a force game in and game out. Kessel has proven he can score anywear from in sie the blue line. Has speed and debatably the best shot in the game. This line will tear teams apart.

armstrong is a character guy who if given second line minutes can score 25 goals. He hits and fights and can change the game with one big hit. J staal is a player we wanted , we knew if he was given second line minutes he would produce so much, with his size skill and determination he is the perfect centerman to come onto the ice after the first line is done. If the first line can trap the other teams D on the forecheck and get a change before they can get off, that team is in trouble with Staal and company headed onto the ice.

The third line is our shut down line, but dont be fooled Kennedy has the potential to score 20 . Bolland is we think the most underated forward in the western conference, chicago doesent win the cup wothout him last year and we are glad to have him.Cooke is cooke. Expect him to hit dirty and often.

Our fourth line is our energy guys. We expect 10 goials from each excluding Orr and speaking of Orr, if you mess with Kessel Orr is your problem.

Our top four D have all proven they can play 20 plus min a game. Komi and Carle are the top line with Kronwall and Ohlund eating up plent of minutes. Expect Kronwall and Komi to target your Key guys and Hurt them, ALOT!.Our thrd d pairing is the beast in the leauge with Giordano and Gill. Gio is the most underated D man in the west right now and expect to hear his name alot in the coming years. Gill is a beast on the penalty kill and has proven he is a playoff warrior.

Quick is Goalie we belive could lead us to the finals. We knew he would be a late pick so we didint jump the gun and drafted acordingly. The Hawks and Wings have proven that an Elite goalie is not nesassacary to win, however we believe quick has all the tools to become a very , very good goalie.

The philosophy behind our moves was to draft big, strong, north american winners. Golad medalist, silver medalist and stanley cup winners. Our euo players were selected becase they play a brash, fiesty northern style game. We like players that have a chip on their shoulder and are mean spirited. The St Louis Blues are with out a doubt the harest team to play in the leauge. We can score, fight and most importantly hit. We do all three loudly and often.

We expect the blues to contend for and win the stanley cup.
