I'm confused as to why the Rangers would want to sign another forward? Don't we have enough 3rd/4th line guys?!

def not a 4th line signing.

my guess, give him a shot to push some people, and if in the ahl, he would be considered for a call up when we need some more offense.

Terrific signing. We get a young guy with plenty of potential for free.

If he pushes people out, all it means is that he was better than them, and at his age, thats fine.

If he doesnt make the team, it means Hartford is that much better.

Guy had 26 points last year... if we can gets him cheap ..in the one million area, it is always good to have options.

Not a bad kid to take a flier on. I doubt he has any chance to make the team, but he's decent depth and makes Hartford even more formidable offensively.

If they cant beat him out... do they deserve to be in the NHL in the first place?

I liked him in Buffalo and was surprised the Sabres weren't going to hold onto him. He needs to get stronger but he has some nice offensive skills.

Not sure where he fits though.

Has a little experience, probably there to compete with MZA, Grachev, etc.

Only thing I do like about this signing is his speed. Our 4th line will probably lack speed since neither Boogaard nor Prust nor Boyle are exactly fast. Kennedy is very quick and somewhat gritty...so whenever we do need a bit more speed, he could be a good option.

If he is the 13th forward or the first call-up, I'm ok with it.

For the price he might not be a bad pickup

You figure this signing is around 1 million on our cap hit and we still have to re-sign Staal, the chance of Redden going to Hartford is looking more likely by the day.

AHL signing? He was essentially a rookie last year, right? 26 points? Not horrible, not groundbreaking either.

I don't see the need for him, but maybe he continues to improve.

I don't know. Redden is still a capable player in a bottom pairing D. Which kind of sucks for your team.

I will enjoy saying that. He's likely cheap but yea I have no clue where the heck he is going to play

Sather likely has something else up his sleeve

still would love getting a C for Gaborik if at all possible. They have excess Forwards now so we will see

What's the price? He passed through waivers at 1M$, so that should tell you about his value league-wide.Basically, you'd be getting a 4th line player who can kill penalties and be a little bit of a pest. He isn't a hitter, isn't a goalscorer, isn't a playmaker, but isn't a liability in any sense. There was a big snowball of negativity after his release from Buffalo, but ONLY, ONLY because he's a local boy. Honestly? With your glut of bottom 6 forwards, I'm not sure he's anything more than a swing man.

Also, worth noting: his best play came down the stretch for the most part, and he had a pretty solid playoffs, save for the Recchi debacle. He has wheels, too.

$1 million for Kennedy? Will find hard to believe the Rangers are paying that much. Closer to the NHL minimum than $1 million. Gotta figure Staal is not far from signing.

I'm indifferent about this.

I would like to see what the plan is for him.
