Yip, who led all NHL rookies in goals-per-game last season (0.34), will switch from No. 59 to No. 18 for the upcoming campaign.
It's been nice knowing ya, Brandon.

So I guess the Avs aren't going to retire Yelle's number?

Doubt it, seeing as Stastny (and Liles) has been using it for a long time.

No real surprises. Mostly young guys going back to their old junior/NCAA numbers.

I'd like to see Yelle in the Avalanche Alumni Association. If Gusarov, Keane, Ricci, and Lemeiux are honored in such a way, I'd think Yelle would be a shoe in. It's a nice middle-ground for the people who deserve some recognition for their time with the team, without having their number retired.

I'm almost positive it will happen...but he needs to retire first. What was the cut-off they gave last season for the Alumni club...200 games?

So in 2019 Doughty will go and run one of the Avs from behind as a member of the Sharks?

No, he'll go back to Los Angeles, and promise to make amends for the pass, and be a mentor to the young guys. Then he'll leave in a year and sign with the Sharks. THEN he'll take a run at one of the young Avs players. Duh.
