agreed maybe drury goes to the 4th line. he did play some 4th line at times last year.

Where does Prust play? Where does Avery play? Where does White play?

Nothing but upside in this signing. It could turn out to be one of the best signings of the offseason I like it so much.

I don't say this often but WTG Slats!

It could I guess. However, I have a hard time believing that he can make an impact as desirable as a player like Frolov should. Or--the long term effect of finally nabbing down Ryan McD or Stepan and inserting them into the overhaul of a youth roster.

Kennedy's a fine young player, I guess, if you're speaking strictly in terms of limited talent on the bottom-six. I just don't feel excited. Yes, I realize there's no area of loss here and the deal is minimal. But I just can't help but feel like we are the only team who's taken on over half-a-dozen "project" players or role players into gaps that aren't very widely available.

Well he put up very similar numbers to Anisimov last year and is only two years older. Not sure why Anisimov is looked at as a future top six and this guy it's out of the question. Whats to say he doesn't click with Anisimov or Drury or Prospal and Gabby and double his totals from last season?

watch kennedy score 15 goals. i think he can put up 35-40 pts this year. in 6 games in the first round, he was one of the better players. kennedy and vanek had 3 pts tied for 3rd and 4th on the team in the playoffs. only Tyler Ennis and Jason Pominville had more points with 4.

If you're judging based on the one playoff series, he was one of, if not THE best Sabre during that BOS series. Except for the Recchi embarassment, he was noticeable and had a positive impact on the team and the flow. Get that kind of game out of him with frequency and he's an NHLer. My problem was that it took him a while to get to that point during the year, and he had trouble staying at that level the whole time.

Again... he needs to find a role and then fill it. He had trouble doing both for Buffalo for the full season last year.

I like this signing for the Rangers and I still think kennedy could be a 60 point player. If he plays with the right guys I think he could put 40 points this year.

You could say the same thing about most rookies.

The more I watch of him the more I think Torts is really going to like his game. Getting under the skin of the opposition, forechecking hard, just generally being a hard worker. Its going to be real interesting watching all of this shake out at camp.

Without thinking of who would have to be moved or cut, Kennedy and Callahan on the wings could be a fast, tough line that could forecheck very well. Not a lot of size, but a good bit of heart and physicality.

What you're saying, I'm hoping that it's proven to be just rookie growing pains. I think he'll play, and he'll find his game more consistently this year.

Well, as a matter of fact, there is a big difference between Kennedy and Anisimov -- especially for us Ranger fans. We know Anisimov better. We highlight his strengths and know what he needs to work on. Most of us, if not all of us, do not watch Kennedy on a game-to-game basis, and cannot comment correctly on his positives and negatives without looking at his stat sheet or taking someone elses word for it.

He could be better than Anisimov next year. He could outproduce him every year for 10 more years. But that's unlikely to us because we're unsure. That's where the non-excitement comes from.

I live in Buffalo and I watch at least 20 games a season of the Sabres. Kennedy, as I described earlier, can top out as a Callahan-like player if he develops more strength. he has the same motor and tenacious fore-checking ability coupled with a good skating stride but Anisimov has the higher potential.

Its a great pick-up but expecting Kennedy to ever produce more than 20 goals and 30 assists in his career, IMO, would be asking too much.

The problem is that he's not a highly touted rookie who is supposed to have some sort of legitimate skill to grow into. You really know what he's going to bring, his ceiling isn't high, and he had trouble bringing it every game - common for rookies.

Again...improvement happens with experience, so you'll get some by default if he plays. But I wouldn't project him to move out of the bottom 6, nor would I expect point totals far exceeding 30.
