right, i forgot he was at pre-camp. still doesn't look that much taller. Even if Drury is listed at 30 pounds more, if those two went into a corner together, I don't imagine MZA would be super outmatched. He might lose more battles over the course of an intense shift and he lacks the brains and experience Drury has that could get him out of a jam against a Chara but he looks big enough to still hold his own. Maybe I'll change my tune when I see him shake Boogaard's hand.
Its Drury, who is 5'10". I saw about a 2 1/2 inch difference there.
To me the size issue is overhyped, im more concerned about the change in ice size.
Good that Callahan is there, along with two players who should certainly not plan on being handed a roster spot before camp starts.
Kind of agree, in my world, in the game of hockey, you are strong enough or you aren't strong enough. I've never seen a forward get bonuspoints for barely being able to sheild the puck against a bigger D.
My point is just, 5'11 180 lbs or 5'8 170 lbs -- I don't think there is much of a differance.
MZA isn't a extremely good skater. He doesn't fly all over the ice. Concern 1. MZA is extremely good at opening things up, creating offense -- in little space. Will he get a chance to play that style? I think it could be important for him to play with good linemates. Concern 2. He won't get much of that in NY. We saw Leino and Giroux break out in Philly last season, and especially latey last season when they played well. These guys needs to get some support, in Philly late they got that.
Just a little tidbit. Someone who works at the rink that I play at (in Brewster) said that he sees Anisimov working with a skating instructor in the mornings I don't remember if he said once a week or every morning, but yeah.
And Staal wore #36 and #42 in training camp/pre season before he made The Show.
Doesn't mean much.
How is it a nobody like me can retain this info and apply it to future thought but Grossman who can't spell L U N D Q V I S T and Zipay who is making a big deal about player TC numbers are gainfully employed to represent NYR in one way or another?
