AHL defenseman, but he can't have less potential than Ian McKenzie.

Whats the point? lol

I guess of the two though, I would rather have Lewis for sure. McKenzie stunk.

One twist, Lewis is on a NHL/AHL two way. BIG defenseman.

Now I'm wondering if the Preds ARE trying to buy the Ads a Calder Cup?

AHL or even ECHL? McKenzie was with Cincy most of the year last year, and Lewis had injuries then was re-assigned to Hersey rather than coming back to the Wolves from injury... not sure if it was just the fact Chicago had Chelios, Kulda, Vishnevisky, etc or more to it than that?

edit: Anyone have a list of NHL contracted defenseman now? Gotta be stacked, plus Scott Ford and Scott Lehman as AHL contract D-men. (Though Lehman can play forward)

i would bet dollars to donuts that Sulzer, if he doesn't make the team this year, goes back to Europe.

Honestly, we can afford to trade at least two of them (Laakso, Sulzer, Franson) right now. But what would we trade them for? We have 22 NHl forwards, 11 NHL D, and the #1 rated prospect pool. Sure, we could add a backup goalie, and more picks/prospects never hurt, but wow. Its scary how deep we are.

Picks (4th, 4th and 2nd, respectivey, would be great to me but probably not realistic).

getting only a second round pick for Franson at this point would be a tremendous waste. As a rookie, not counting Grebeshkov, he was the best puck-distributing defenseman that we've had since Zidlicky.

Sulzer is trade bait with his one way deal and limited potential to crack the Preds lineup. Laakso is on a two way .... a perfect candidate to stay with the organization at least one more year.

I'm reserving judgment on Franson's future until we see his next contract details.
