I seem to remember reports saying that Cammy not only turned the Leafs down but also accepted less money to go to Montreal and that Burke was pretty disappointed over it.

Imagine that though, a winger electing not to go to a team that only had AHL level centers....shocking
Link ?

I've never heard of this report of Cammalleri turning down more money to sign with the habs.

Considering their beloved Komisarek and Grabovski are Habs products, it's hilarious.

They were banned from US radio from 1966 to 1970, then merely proceeded to put out several of the best rock albums in history that no one ever heard at the time, and I'm almost ashamed to say, I never heard much of until recently.

Mind you I have been playing their best albums constantly since hearing them in totality.... GVSP, Arthur, Something Else, Muswell Hillbillies, Face to Face......those albums compare to Who, Floyd, Stones and Beatles releases from that period if not surpass them (I think they're better personally)......Ray Davies was/is England's poet laureate as Pete Townsend once proclaimed.

I think Davies is the greatest English rock songwriter of all time, and that's saying a lot..... many of rock's greatest songwriters have come from Britain IMO, including his contemporaries Lennon and McCartney, Jagger, Jones and Richards, Barrett and Waters, etc. What set Ray apart from those guys is he penned pretty much every Kinks song, and still does to this day...Dave had a few songs, and some were pretty good, but at least 90 per cent of the songs were Ray's.

His wry sense of humour, melodies and English references have influenced pretty much every English rock band in the past 40 years, including in particular personal favourites XTC and The Jam...but there's all sorts of others...I hear lots of stuff from Kinks albums that has since been borrowed by more recent bands as well, including eerily similar songs or chord structures from bands like Oasis and Blur.

For anyone who likes 'British rock, or good rock period - you have to listen to those Kinks albums I mentioned above ...in particular VGPS, Arthur and Something Else....I implore you lol.
Hilarious you wrote this, I understand and agree with all of it. Me and a good musician friend really got into the Kinks a few years ago, especially the albums you mention. We have been preaching to anyone that will listen how underrated and fantastic they are, and have got many people we know into them, just great songs and songwriting.

And with respect to Cammy I also heard when he first signed that Burke offered more money but he chose Montreal.

It'd be more of a rivalry if the Leafs could make the playoffs.

I don't blame the guy.
Best hockey market in the world that needed a star player.

Another reason why Burke should be fired.

Seguin, Cammy > Kessel

*Although without this, likely no Phaneuf trade and it's hard to predict a bottom two placement with a different roster.. Oh well.

At least Leafs fans don't boo Cammalleri each time he touches the puck while playing against the Leafs in Toronto, where as Montreal fans keep booing Briere because he picked the Flyers and because he is French Canadian you all assumed he would have picked the Canadiens.

Don't tell me you think Montreal is the biggest hockey market, because you'd be completely wrong.

Those are arguably the two least liked players on our roster.. You tried though right?

They also boo Jagr, Chara, Ovechkin, Thornton, Crosby, as well as many others, honestly, its a form of endearment.

Yes, you may notice that Quebecois cultural identity is stronger than most other regional Canadian identities. Frankly, I don't think you actually understand very much about the point you're trying to make.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to post your deeply considered reasoning about why Leafs fans being silent is better than Habs fans who both cheer and boo loudly and often on the Leafs board?

Uh, he didn't say that at all...

I think he is more referring to the library that is the ACC.

Longest streak without a Cup in the NHL: Toronto.

The Chicago Cubs have more fans and play in a larger and richer city than most other markets. They are also gigantic losers. Who does that remind me of?

Well Leafs fans aren't dumb enough to boo Cammalleri because he signed with Montreal just because he is from Toronto and grew up a Leafs fan, the way you like to boo Briere because he French Canadian and signed with the Flyers instead of the Canadiens.

Yes this is what you said in your first post. Repeating yourself only shows that you have no understanding of either a) Habs fans who target and boo players going back many decades longer than I suspect you've been alive. b) A complete lack of understanding of French Canadian culture and tinge of bigotry to boot.

But sure, come by the Habs board and say Frenchies are dumb. Great idea. Certainly your arguments that Leafs fans are smart are bolstered by the fact they're well into their fifth decade without doing better than the Habs did...um...last season. Those silly Habs fans, when will they learn?
