2.625, his cap hit is an extra .425 from his previous contract's cap hit.

2 Years, exactly what I wanted... and probably what Management wanted. Price was probably looking for 3 years to bring him to free agency. I expect someting around 2.5M$ a year.

Can't you see it? I mean it's 5.25 and not 5.0!

Don't try to play it cool. When one of your players isn't signed by September, there are good reasons to worry. No matter what the situation is.

appearntly now it's 5.5 million for two years not 5.25.

2.75 cap hit for two years. His cap hit would be .550 K higher than his rookie cap hit.

I don't see anyone worrying about Hanzal, Cogliano, Bergfors, Neal, Staal, Ryan, Mueller, and Stewart.

Maybe that's the thing - maybe Montreal fans SHOULD try and play it a little cooler.

It's fine, if we had signed him to a 1 year deal, we could probably have gotten him for even lower. Something like 2.3-2.4M.

But I think PG gladly pays an extra 0.225M for one more year. It's very likely Price is going to increase his value next season since he's the de facto #1. There's no way Auld competes with him for #1 so chances are Price will get 40 wins.

Not a terrible deal. Ideally, it would have been a bit lower, something like 2.5 but can't really complain.

2 years $5.25M is a good deal for the Habs.. I was expecting Price to get 2 years $5.5M..

Now lets get the season started...

Edit.. So it looks like it might be 2 years $5.5M

Good reason to be concerned I'll agree. To freak out and make all kinds of weird accusations is quite another matter. Not that I'm saying you did that Cam.

so for an extra 125K the deal sucks now? I don't get it. 2.625 is okay, but an extra .125K is not? That's not even league minimum.

Another move PG made that I'm completely satisfied with. I was expecting 2 years 5.5, so well done and gives us the flexibility in two years to reevaluate whether or not to sign him long term. Perfect deal for the Habs IMHO.

To those who thought Price would get 1.3 you were completely delusional from the beginning.

As I said in the 'Gauthier-to-Vermont' thread, this could make a great movie:

Appearntly it is 5.5 according to Tony Jellybeans Marinaro. Add another 125K to that 5.625 cap hit.

Sorry guys I meant 125K.

Ching ching!! RT @TonyMarinaro Reports of Price contract 5.25M over 2 years are not correct. Deal is 2 years 5.5M. Take it to the bank!

Carey Price's cap hit will be 525K more than last year I think. Not bad.

It's kind of funny to me he makes the same salary as Halak is going to make next season. Of course, lower cap hit, but same salary nonetheless.

I can't really see how he earned that, but whatever.

Halak's contract is back loaded, he's still earning more money in the long run. It's really a non issue. Whether it's back loaded or front loaded the end amount is still the same.
