THN OHL Predicted Standings

I know THN has lost a lot of credibility lately but this is insane.

1. Mississauga
2. Windsor
3. London
4. Oshawa
5. Kitchener
6. Erie
7. Ottawa
8. Niagra
9. Sarnia
10. Peterborough
11. Plymouth
12. Bellville
13. Owen Sound
14. Sault St Marie
15. Brampton
16. Kingston
17. Guelph
18. Saginaw
19. Sudbury
20. Barrie

I really don't know how they came up with some of these. Names out of a hat.

or anyone here on the NOOF who watches the OHL passionately must be insane because I doubt they would've picked that order.

They really missed the boat on that.
They rarely cover the OHL that well.

Lets face it, predicting the standings beyond the top few spots in the league is a crapshoot. There's some things about the list that seem questionable to be sure, but you never know. Maybe this is Barrie's year to miss the playoffs, somebody has to.

Barrie, Saginaw, Guelph, Kingston and the Sault will likely finish a bit higher than the hockey news predicts, while I think Niagara, Sarnia, Plymouth, Belleville and Owen Sound will probably finish a bit lower.

I'm constantly being called the biggest homer ever... but Windsor won't be winning the Western Connference this year. I believe they will be in a dog fight for their division (and I believe we could still win it), but Kitchener is the team to beat... and they don't even have them winning their division.

THN is realy clueless about junior hockey in general so I wouldn't hold them to much credibility.

Yeah. Just about everyone else has Kitchener the team to beat and THN has London over them, and Windsor even higher.

I think Missisauga will end like Brandon last year, just because they're hosting it doesn't mean they're the best team in the league, not even the best in the conference maybe. They're diffrent from Brandon in that they still should win their confernece though.

Well can we pick our choices: EAstern Conference:
East Kingston,Oshawa, Ottawa, Bellville and Peterborough
Central:
Mississauga, Sudbury(Sleeper for sure)Niagara, Brampton, Barrie
Western Conferecnc:
Midwest: Kitchener,Owen Sound, London< guelph, Erie
West:
Sault Ste. Marie (why not it is close) Plymouth, Saginaw, Windsor and Sarnia
I will add that if Sequin comes back reverse the Soo and Plymouth

Missy could be a bit of an enigma. They had a solid team last year and return most of the team. They added Shugg who should have a good year and Cantin who will definately be a great replacement for Gaunce. The should win their conference, but the West are typically stronger teams.

London, Windsor, Oshawa, OS, Sarnia, Niagara, all too high. Guelph, Saginaw, Soo, Barrie, Kingston are way too low. Maybe they should just let Brock do the predictions for them.

It doesn't help that they have Cressman helping them when he basically used the freepress as his own Knights blog when he wrote here. (Honestly, he falsely reported a trade once that I swear he read on a message forum).

Wow, those rankings are terrible. But the Hockey News predictions are usually way off. I don't know who makes these predictions, but they clearly don't watch a lot of OHL hockey. Kitchener being ranked 5th is laughable. The only way that happens is if Skinner, Morin and D'Amigo all stay in the pros. Also, there is no way Saginaw will be the third worst team in the league. The Soo is ranked way too low, and Sarnia is not the 5th best team in the West. Maybe next year they will be, but they'll be hard pressed to make the playoffs this year. The good thing about the upcoming season is that there should be a lot more parody in the league, and this should lead to better games. Last year there were a few really good teams and a lot of really bad teams, which lead to a lot of one-sided games. I don't think there will be nearly as many gimmie wins this year(except maybe in Sudbury, sorry Wolves fans)

How is Sarnia finishing 5th in the West that massively far off of a prediction.

These prediction things always put Sarnia way lower than they actually finish, except for the occasional year they do actually finish last. I, as well as a few other people have projected Sarnia 6th, and considering how incredibily close the West is, 3 points could be the difference between 4th and 7th in the West, and unless teams start going for it, or selling out to rebuild. The one I can't believe is Saginaw finishing last in the West.

Sarnia will be about 5-7 in the West and probably 10-14 overall in my opinion

I figured Windsor would be 4-6 in the conference, 6-10 overall.

hey ry, I was refering to the prediction that they'd finish 9th overall just cant see that yet but will be close in the west like you said, theres some strong clubs in the east and alot more balance in general throughout the ohl should be an exciting season for sure!

Good point I like what the East will be bringing to the table as well.

I'm surprised with Saginaw. They are going to be a good team this year.

As for Sarnia...it's hard to tell, i think they are in the playoffs this year but maybe ranked a bit high on this list. I could see them around the 12th spot. there is a ton of talent from camp this year and with the Russian kids over here now they could very well have a huge season and surprise many.
