Not bad.
- I don't think Gomez will score 16 goals
- I don't think Gionta will score as much as last year. He's on decline.
- Plekanec may increase his points from last year (70pts)
- I think that Avtsin will see no action in NHL ...yet

Since this is just for fun, I'm simply going to guess how many games played and how many points our rookies/young players are going to play.

Subban 76GP 14G 32A 46P
Weber 28GP 7G 11A 19P
Carle 20GP 3G 9A 12P
Eller 80GP 17G 24A 41P
Pacioretty 44GP 13G 17A 30P
Desharnais 27GP 5G 11A 16P
Pyatt 79GP 11G 11A 22P
Maxwell 29GP 4G 9A 13P

Obviously, I'm thinking that Subban, Eller and Pyatt play a whole season with us while Pacioretty splits the season between Hamilton and Montreal. The other guys are going to get a considerable amount of games with the big league because our bottom 6 has a few open spaces depending on who's playing well and who isn't. Some of the points may be a bit generous (Weber, Pacioretty) but these guys will play some offensive roles on the team if/when they do come up. What say ye?

No way does Maxwell finally get his first point. No way.

I think these are very safe predictions for the most part in that most players have shown an ability to score at the pace you're predicting previously. Don't see so games for Schultz and Avstin but it's not even camp so who knows.

What about breakouts? You seem to be pretty high on Max (which I can see) and are predicting many games for Desharnais. I guess you see him taking some games from Eller. I think if he gets those games he's gotta get them on the wing unless there's an injury because he's unlikely to become a 3rd line centre (or better) for this team given Eller's presence, not to mention Boyd, Lapierre and possibly even Pyatt. But there are spots currently up for grabs on the wings in the top 6 and certainly the 3rd line. To me, it's nonsensical to have him on the 4th line.

I look at Benoit Pouliot as the player with the most potential to have a truly breakout season. He had a rough playoff but had a great stretch of season with the Habs last year (don't forget 14 goals, 8 assists in 27 games) and will likely be given ample time with Gomez and Gionta unless something surprizing happens during camp (like Eller beating him out for a job).

To me, those 2 are the perfect fit for Ben. They play a very specific style that fits well with his game. Offensively, they are free-wheeling, give-and-go style players which fits well with Ben's speed, shot and hands. Defensively, they are responsible and come back deep in the zone to start breakouts which fits well with Pouliot because he tends to stay high and leave early, looking to receive stretch passes in stride. And there's also the fact that Gionta is a likely captain and Gomez is a true vet and between the two of them Pouliot is likely to learn a ton both about the game on the ice as well as what it takes to be a pro. A pro who is consistent and valuable to his team.

Combine playing with those guys, the success he had for a time last year and his skill set and he looks like a guy who could breakout with 35+ goals. Honestly, he looks like Gagne to me, like a perennial 40 goal man. Wouldn't that be nice.

Thanks for playing! I agree with what you're predicting for Gionta, Pouliot, Boyd, Pyatt and Moen.

I see that you're predicting a good season for Plekanec, Cammalleri, Kostitsyn and Eller. I'm not sure I'd be thinking along those lines for all of them, but then again, I hope you're right!

I agree with what you're predicting for Pyatt and Eller, especially if the latter stays with the big club for the duration of the regular season. Do you think Weber could potentially fill some of the offensive void left by Markov on defense? I've heard that Weber has a great point shot, but what about his breakout passing? I honestly don't know what to make of Pacioretty, but I do think he is capable of contributing to the offense on a regular basis.

I guess you're not too optimistic about Maxwell, eh?

Thanks for your feedback! I agree that if Desharnais is to play a handful of games, he's probably going to find himself on the wing.

I can't say I disagree with you about Pouliot. He could definitely learn a lot from playing with Gomez and Gionta. If he finds the form that he had during the regular season, watch out. That would indeed be nice.

Gionta is not "on decline"

Only an injury will slow him.

Fixed it for you. Next time, double check on a calculator. Some were off, while some were WAY off.

Your prediction may be a little crazy, but I don't think it's outrageous. I agree with the 10 goals, but I doubt he'll earn 49 assists. The +10 rating may also be a little high. I hope you're right, but he's a young, developing defender. He may very well reach your prediction at some point in his career, but I'd be surprised if it's next season.
