I don't think Ryan White offers more than Moen. whose experience came through in the playoffs.
Some fans are always looking to get rid of players. It's a wonder they don't look at their own hands and think that their little fingers are useless and that if they were lopped better ones would grow to replace them.
He belongs on the bottom 6 but I was hoping he could find a spot on the PP, planting himself in front of the net. But after watching Gionta for a few weeks, I realized that size wasn't that much of a factor on PP. Grit, courage is all you need to fight for your position in front of the net. Add talent and Gionta's efficiency becomes much more valuable in that specific role.
Moen doesn't have Gionta's baseball skills and I'm pretty sure that our next Metropolit PP secret weapon will be Eller (and Subban, and Desharnais later on...) if he's able to play with confidence. Both goals in Eller season 2009-2010 were deviations and I'm sure that he can score in many different ways. On the other hand, Moen seems to be only able to rush the goalie with the puck and hope to score. But once again, scoring isn't his main role.
We don't need to replace Moen. What we need is more like him. Rugged wingers on the third and fourth line don't hurt teams as long as they are defensively competent. Montreal used to have multiple players who could play physical and fight, when they suddenly decided they only need one at a time is anyone's guess but I would like this team to get meaner. I remember just a few years ago teams gave us respect when Souray and Rivet were in our line up.
