Biron, his helmet, precamp notes

http://rangers.nhl.com/club/news.htm...id=DL|NYR|home

Callahan and Avery both had hat-tricks in the 4-4 scrimmages today. Dubinsky, Grachev, Drury each pot 2. “There wasn’t much defense being played out there,” joked Lundqvist. Lundqvist's scouting report on MZA

Quote:
“He has such quick hands and his passes … he sees guys coming at the right time. You can tell he’s got skill, for sure.”
what do you all think of Biron's helmet? I think it looks pretty nice! Can anyone make out what is on his chin?

That is the Coat of Arms of Quebec on his chin, he's had it on helmets before i believe...

SJ Fan, come in peace. I enjoy seeing the artwork of goaltenders masks, and I would have to say that I like this one a lot. Patriotic and sentimental can never be beat.

Any pictures of the rest of his gear?

Seems like Lundqvist is high on MZA.

Interesting to see a French Canadian goaltender dedicate his mask to an American flag.

Well, Biron's been living in the US for a long time now (had his house in Buffalo, kids going to school there, etc)

I dunno if he's a US citizen at this point but he's obviously been in the US for a long time, so it makes sense he's not too uncomfortable putting the US flag on his helmet. Plus it seems to be the thing to do when you play for the Rangers.

Also, no one mentioned that Grachev had 2 goals and therefor must have dominated and is ready to make the team out of training camp!

Except if it was a regular season game, Ranger players wouldn't be scoring.

Only thing I don't like is the giant lady liberty on top. They could have incorporated it in a less obtrusive way but still pretty sexy.

So if MZA has quick hands, does he get to play with Gaborik and his quick release?

Me either. Its not bad, but its not great in any way. Auld's was pretty BA last year - it was actually painted pretty cheesy, but the idea was creative and payed homage to the franchise. I like a mask that is tied to the team. He's got the liberty seal on it, but its more pro america than pro rangers. I don't think thats bad, per se, but its not my taste.

mask is nothing special, don't like it... except the Quebec logo, about the only cool thing on the helmet... thumbs down.

the statue of liberty logo on the forehead seems to be a trend among the last number of backups... lame really...

nothing will ever compare to this:

It's better than a standing ad of your womans personal business.

this. I feel like if our colors weren't red white and blue, it wouldn't even be a consideration in the mask art lol

"Rangers captain Chris Drury closed out the proceedings with his second goal of the contest, giving the Blue Team the victory."

A Captain Clutch sighting!
