NCAA players can play in this tourney, they just have to pay their own way for everything. Havin to pay for all that is a reason why some of them don't show up to play

Not true. The reason that they can't play is that they would have to miss classes which would void eligibility. They would have to pay their own way too, but the missing classes is the deal breaker.

Wouldn't MZA count as a professional and be ineligible?

Having the leading SEL scorer on our team may stack the deck in our favor, even if he is a bit of a ringer.

No. He can be a member of the Rangers team.

I heard there were nine teams invited. Are there only 8? Is there a web site? Thanks.

list of notable NYR prospects to be @ Traverse City. Keep in mind... last year the Canes had players who spent some time in NHL the previous season. Obviously, there will be some invitees sprinkled in that we've never heard of. I'll make my prediction now....NYR will win Traverse City this September.

Forwards

Ryan Bourque
Dale Weise
Jesper Fasth
Evgeny Grachev
Roman Horak
Randy McNaught
Derek Stepan
Christian Thomas
Ethan Werek
Jason Wilson
Andrew Yogan

Defense

Ryan McDonagh
Tomas Kundratek
Daniel Maggio
Sam Klassen
Dylan McIlrath
Jyri Niemi

Goalies

Cameron Talbot
Scott Stajcer

Pretty good line-up, if you ask me.

Nice lineup. I think that lineup (+ Kreider) could possibly beat the current Ranger squad, exciting that our future team is looking bright

That lineup would have no chance in hell to win against the current Rangers lineup. Every single position is worse than on the main squad (you could maybe make an argument about #1C, Stepan could surprise there), but Lundqvist and Gaborik alone wouldn't make this even remotely close.

Let's not overrate prospects this much please.

What part of the word "possibly" don't you understand. This Ranger team was one of the worst in the league this past year. Yeah NHL superstars Lundqvist and Gaborik tip the scales obviously.

This prospect team + Kreider has talent. This team has size, speed, playmakers and grit.

"possibly" means there is a chance it could happen. But there really isn't. Sure it has talent, but let's be real, such a prospect team wouldn't win one game in the NHL. In three years when all these prospects have developed, but even then, Talbot and Stajcer haven't even proven to be AHL calibre goalies yet.

But well if you want to believe in the possibilty, "possibly" I win the lottery tomorrow.

Yep.

that team would be torn to shreds.

Keep in mind that maybe 15% of our draft picks will be full time NHLers. We've done pretty well so far with Anisimov, Del Zotto, Staal, Lundqvist, Dubinsky, Callahan, but for every one of those there are 5 or 6 that have failed.

Will this be available anywhere ? NHL network isn't carrying it , but will it be streamed somewhere ? I would really want to see these prospects esp. the McPound bros.

What a joke the NHL Network is.

MSG should negotiate the rights the Rangers prospect games at least instead of showing the top 50 moments at MSG again, over and over. (Probably cheaper to buy the Traverse City tourney than pay Modine his royalties, even.)

He's on the roster. Bmoak just forgot to type him in his post.

Strong group of forwards, decent D (Only future NHL players I see there are McI, McD, and possibly Kundratek), don't know much about the goalies.

looks about right to me... i was even thinking of switching Thomas and Bourque for a shift or so and seeing how that works out. but yes, i'm excited to see how they all mesh, especially Grachev and Stepan.

We could also have fielded an entire Mac Line Team composed of (Pull the Goalie!!!! - the whole game of course):

McDonaugh - McIlwrath
McKelvie - McCue - McNaughty

And Mr Mustache Man - Maccarone as the 6th skater.

bring on The Syracuse Bulldogs I say!

That forward group is absolutely insane. Imagine if Kreider and MZA were playing.
