Will Spezza get 100 points this season?

Just because i'm bored, and can't wait for the season to start:

10/3/09-12/14/09: 19 points over 30 games .633 PPG pace

5 goals, 14 assists

1/23/10-4/10/10: 38 points over 30 games 1.267 PPG Pace

18 goals, 20 assists

Had Spezza played a full season at this pace, his totals would've looked something like: 49 G, 55 A

The reason that his PPG production rose so high during the second half of the season was the fact that he was/had:

1.) Completely healthy
2.) Adjusted to his line mates (not playing along side Heatley) started taking better shots on goal

I also wanted to separate the his point production while playing on the Regin-Spezza-Alfredsson line but I couldn't remember when they started playing together

With the addition of Gonchar and the maturation of Karlsson, Spezza's production on the PP should have a nice boost too.

So in my opinion I believe that Spezza will have a 100+ point season if he remains completely healthy, but hey it's just my $0.02 on a topic that I had too much free time for so take it for what it's worth, and let me know what you guys think.

(Stats taken from espn.com from Spezza's game logs)

I sure hope so, I feel like this is the year Spezza really has to carry the team and silence the critics.

i noticed that when he came back from be injured he was shooting more while still passing alot. But once the playoffs started he was back to only passing, we'll see if that continues.

Definitely can be a 90+ Pts

Almost no chance. Fewer and fewer 100 pt seasons are occurring and he's never hit the mark before. Not that he's as injury prone but guys like Forsberg and Lindros were on pace for 120-130 points a season frequently. Did they ever hit such lofty marks? No. Jason is an elite center but he's got an injury prone Milan Michalek and an aging Daniel Alfredsson as his best scoring support. This year will be like last, with Crosby and Ovechkin hitting the mark, and two or three other guys having career years. Possibly Malkin. But I doubt Jason can do it.

I hope, but I doubt it.

I see him as being around 75-85 points, if he plays 75 games.

If he's healthy, (I expect 75 or so games out of him) I'll say he'll get 85-90 points. I don't see Spezza cracking 100 this season.

Yes, i think he can get 100. For me, Spezza doesn't necessary need a tremendous left wing to get 100 points. He showed it last year when he scored 23 goals in 60 games (keep in mind that his back was hurting in his first 20 games or so). I think he proved to everybody that Heatley's departure never affected his production and i tought that was great.

My prediction: If he and Alfie are both healthy, he gets 90+ points.

If he's healthy and Gonchar/Karlsson are healthy, he has a shot.

Spezza is going to get injured. He has one healthy 82GP season since the lockout.
I'd put him down for 70GP

Best case is 90Pts

Nicklas Backstrom barely cracked 100 pts on one of the most offensive teams in the last decade, playing with the best goal-scorer in the game. I don't think Spezza has a chance at 100.

Niklas Backstrom is also a whopping 3 year NHL veteran, the fact he's hitting the 100P barrier this young is extremely impressive.

No, but I'd be delighted with 90 which I do think is possible.

In fact, anything we, as a fan base, can use to shut up the irritating HFBoarders that are offering 3rd line role player with 2nd line potential + 1st 2011 + overpriced nobody (salary dump).

If he plays 82 games, then sure 100p is possible, but if he drops back to 75 games, 90 is his high end.

It is all about gp to reach 100pts.

Now I am not suggesting this is what to expect at all, but the chance is there.

I doubt it, he isn't good enough on his own to increase his point production 43 points without another sniper on his wing like Heatley. Michalek doesn't have that kind of scoring ability & Regin is still too inexperienced.

I hope so but I doubt it. 90 is more realistic IMO.

What about, Ryder, Halak and a 2nd?

I think 90 pts is entirely possible, he may even be on pace for over 100. But it's doubtful he plays enough games. I kind of forgot you guys added Gonchar, ooops, that kind of powerplay help can really balloon a guy's points.

Not a chance. After the last couple years, I'd be ecstatic if he gets 80 points.

Don't think so.
I'll be pretty happy if he hits 80-85.
He and Alfredsson will get injured and Michalek isn't a natural trigger-man.

Around 75-85 for Spezza, 60-75 for Alfie and 40-65 for Michalek.

85-90 not enough goals coming from his wingers to hit 100

Probably Smyth/Williams/Ponikarovsky/Brown...worse than what we have.
