Senators/Kings in talks...Kings want top forward while Senators want 2 roster players and pick in return.
Same old same old. I don't care what gets done, as long as we get a top 6 player from somewhere before training camp Do it Deano!

And he just followed it up with:

Spezza not the only Senator being discussed with Kings...
We may have inquired about Kovalev. I would be O.K. with that as long as we get him for a cheap price. Most I would do would be maybe Moller + a pick.

Spezza is a horrible idea, just brutal. That would be two center's with 7M cap hits...

Carrie Underwood does not want to live in Ottawa.

Kovalev should, and will, stay the hell away from this team. Preach "hard to play against" and insert this romance scam in the lineup.

There are two top forwards in Ottawa; Alfredsson and Spezza. Neither is coming, unless Alfie can be convinced LA is his last try for a cup.

If Spezza was to come to LA and Schenn proves to be the 2nd line center then I'd try Kopitar at LW. It worked for Marleau.

With Kopi's speed and hands he would become a 40 - 50 goal a year LW with Spezza setting him up. Kopi wouldn't have to cover as much ground in the defensive zone.

Kopitar Spezza Simmonds ?

Could Stoll, Williams and a 1st get Spezza?

Thoughts?

Yeah, this is a guy currently being discussed on the Ottawa board. Is he a center? If so, then Stoll and Moller would probably be going the other way.........

Yes he's a center and would be a great mentor for Schenn.

I got nothing on this.

Fisher would sure be a nice add but so would that Russian of theirs.

I like Fisher but we have Stoll and in my eyes Fisher is not a great enough upgrade to warrant the cost of aquiring Fisher

True.

I feel allot like you do with the exception that Fisher plays with a significantly greater edge to his game then Jarret does imo.

They both provide similar functions, close enough to where the deal isn't a major win for us if it were to go down.

Of the two I think that Fisher plays the style of game that fits our system/need more than JS does but close enough. Fisher for three years potting in his 20g per average would be nice though.

Odd that Spezza and Fisher are mentioned before Michalek. The obvious hole in the lineup is 1st/2nd line LW and Michalek would plug that up. Don't really know how well he's done in Ottawa or even if they'd be willing to trade him so soon after acquiring him though.

Fisher seems pointless. Marginal upgrade from Stoll but with a $4.2M salary.

Why do Kings fans hate what they want? "We need a sniper!" Kovalev is the epitome of a sniper.. Might have the best shot in the league, yet we dont want him.

I'll take him in with open arms for the right price..

Well it did work for Pittsburgh. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are a good pair too, only cheaper because of the years tacked on to the end of Zetterberg's contract. Point is, the teams that have been successful usually have a great 1-2 punch down the middle, even if they are pricey.

If not Spezza, then Kovalev or Michalek would be my targets from Ottawa. Kovalev has the leadership and experience and can still put up numbers and, but most importantly, he would be a cheap one year rental. Michalek would cost a bit more, but he would be the best fit.

I think I read somewhere that Kopitar's favorite player was Kovalev. In one of the media guides....or the thing that you buy from the kids at games? I'm in Taiwan so I don't recall what they are called.
Unrelated note: I was in China @ the World Expo, I stopped by the Slovenia booth and was wearing my Kings hat. I asked some chick who was from Slovenia working the pavilion if she was familiar with Kopitar and she was like I don't care about that crap. Then she asked some guy that was also from Slovenia and he started gushing about Kopitar. Kind of neat to hear his perspective on Kopitar, and how much Kopitar means to Slovenia.

Would rather Michalek just because we dont need a rental at left wing. We currently have 1 hole, then next year we lose Poni, then the year after that we lose Smyth. We need Michalek more than a stop gap

CBGB from LGK:

Quote:
Ready for your collective heads to explode?

Lamoriello offered the Kings Rolston for (get this) Voynov and a 3rd. I know Lombardi turned him down flat but I hope he either hung up on him or laughed uncontrollably until Lou hung up.

Spezza is staying put (for now) but the Kings are trying to pry Fisher. Kings have also talked to Atlanta about a potential deal.

Simmonds going the other way has legs.

More in the next few days

I guess your stuck with him Lou
