I'm all for the excitement of trades but why not just give this roster some time and see what they can do?

to be honest i love this lineup, i mean our goaltending is giong to be 100 % better then last year and i think we are a better team on the back end for obvious reasons

With New Jersey's recent cap problems I'd love to take one Zach Parise off their hands...

You're killing me man!

Anyways I think we can do much much better than what we did last year. I expect us to be at the top of the Northeast with Boston.

If we improve and don' have to give up Spezza or Karlsson I'm happy.

Are you still not able to give us a hint to this "blockbuster trade"? And how can these new rumors be concurrent with what you've heard? How can Murray be making so many moves without tearing apart the roster?

If Zach Parise, for some ridiculous, dumb reason, became available, there would be 29 teams trying to make a trade happen.

i would like to see this team play before altering it but rumors have made this last little while a little more fun...

has their been any word if the deal will involve
east or west teams?
forward or defense?
multi player or one-for-one?

I'd find it hard to believe that anyone on the Devils' roster (other than Brodeur and Kovalchuk) is not available especially since they're roughly $3M over the cap. You can't dump $3M by trading away the 3rd and 4th liners.

I think Devils ownership would rather pay whatever it takes to bury someone in the minors than trade away an elite first liner.

They probably should have thought of this before they went out and brought in Kovalchuk with a 15-year, $6.667M cap hit, Volchenkov with a 6-year, $4.25M cap hit, Jason Arnott with a $4.5M cap hit, and Henrik Tallinder with a 4-year, $3.375M cap hit.

Based on age and cap hit, I'd say Parise and Zajac look like the easiest targets. And like I said, I'd gladly take Parise off their hands...

The Devils will certainly place someone in the minors before they trade a core piece like Parise or Zajac. They had no qualms about sending Mogilny and his $3.5 million salary to the River Rats in 05/06.

Honestly, I think you'd have an easier time getting the answer out of Jimmy Hoffa.

I think they would rather deal Salvador (2.9) and Zubrus (3.4) over moving Parise.

Ducks could use a stop gap I could see Salvador moved there for a small amount.

Then they Devils could shop around Zubrus + 1st for a mid level prospect.

Something like that I think Lou will do... it will be pretty anti climatic watching them get under the cap.

Oh yeah. If the owner(s) doesn't mind shelling out $100-million for Kovalchuk's deal, I doubt he'll have a problem paying $3-4 million to have someone ride the bus in the AHL for the year.

Apparently if Lou can't make a move he is just going to waive Salvador and Zubrus
